Gosh didn't know there were still alleys nowadays - haven't heard that term since I lived in Chicago more than 50 years ago.

There are several here. Mostly for utility access. Ours is larger than most as the water diversion culvert used to run behind our house. In 1976 after the dam broke in Estes Park and flooded down the canyon it was redirected elsewhere. There is occasionally (like once every 30 years) water in it from storm drain overflow. It is a good 7' deep in the middle.

We have a utility easement running alongside our property and extending quite a way in both east & west. However the folks on the other side use it as their personal dumping ground. When they threw a crib mattress out. I went over and took a photo of it. Funny thing next time I looked the mattress was gone

Somebody threw a ton of empty beer cans into my yard - wonder if it was the mattress folks.

Recycle! :D

Where in VA are you? I'm at the MD/DE/PA "corner" line and I have eggs. Papa is a Nankin Bantam, but my hens are more like Forrest Gump's "Box of Chocolates!" Mom could be a Nanny, a bantam buff cochin, a NHRed, a blue NHR/Silkie or a Jersey Giant ... but I can't ship, as I'm not NPIP.
Southwest...opposite corner. Bummer, but thank you for the offer!

I'm sure there are people around here somewhere with eggs, I just haven't had much time to get out and meet a ton of people yet. All my new friends are quilters or gardeners and I'm the one they ask when they need eggs. Last year craigslist was littered with egg, chick, and poultry listings but this year it's like I'm the only one around with chickens.
Maybe it's because people are putting things into the freezer this year instead of selling.
Plenty of pig and cattle ads though...

My neighbors have a ton of kids - none of whom pick up after themselves after cutting through my back lot. I stopped telling them to go get their mess & just started dumping the stuff in their front yard, myself. Funny thing, that. Once they started having to explain where all the dirty underwear, socks and towels came from (we have a great creek out back,) they started gathering it up, themselves. Now it lays around in their own back yard, instead of mine!

I can't wait until I get the iPhone so that my messages will go through to you because I've been sending you pictures but I don't think you've gotten them 🤪

Here they are a little more fluffed. My chicks never dry good in the bator. The brooder plate always dries them really good, but I was sleeping when they hatched. So they look awful 😑

If it's silver or blue or whatever they call it, I'll keep it if it's a pullet
