Well, I did it. Again.

I ordered another incubator. This time through my local TSC so there should be no problems with "lost in shipping" issues. The original co. did refund the $ plus I know the manager at my TSC and if this incubator gives me any issues in the next couple of years he'll switch it out for me no problem.

Thanks @BullChick for the ebay suggestion for hatching eggs. I may utilize that plus I can hatch from my crew and maybe help people here who want layer chicks but can't get to TSC before they sell out.

Land I have, though much of it is too sloped for an easy chicken tractor raising solution for meat birds, but with adding some predator proof fencing I could utilize more of it for different poultry types and I could also support some pigs, goats again, and even a few feeder steers.
There is a pork and beef processor nearby, though I don't know if they are currently open.
Home raised is absolutely the best, but having had experience with all I'd rather raise turkeys and smaller animals and use them to barter with other farmers for what little pork and beef we eat. I don't care for raising pigs.

Aww well I hope you can tell soon
I can't wait until I get the iPhone so that my messages will go through to you because I've been sending you pictures but I don't think you've gotten them 🤪

Here they are a little more fluffed. My chicks never dry good in the bator. The brooder plate always dries them really good, but I was sleeping when they hatched. So they look awful 😑

If it's silver or blue or whatever they call it, I'll keep it if it's a pullet

Yeah the only ones I can find here are the BBW too. Lol we aren't allowed turkeys here anyway.
Yes yes yes to 5+ acres. That would be awesome.

......now wondering if I can find a beef cow.....
D'you have any dairy farms in your area? You can often pick up a "retiree" - or split one - for a decent price. You'll likely deal directly with the butcher, but you start with the farmer.

Where in VA are you? I'm at the MD/DE/PA "corner" line and I have eggs. Papa is a Nankin Bantam, but my hens are more like Forrest Gump's "Box of Chocolates!" Mom could be a Nanny, a bantam buff cochin, a NHRed, a blue NHR/Silkie or a Jersey Giant ... but I can't ship, as I'm not NPIP.

Couldn't you just tell 'em its a REALLY big dog?

Here they wouldn't be sure which one I was talking about. 😳 :gig
Our dogs are all really big so they might buy that!

I am sure I can find one. I need to see how much freezer space we will have in the new freezer coming in a week.

I delayed my departure and am glad I did. The city is mowing the alley.....again. So very odd to me as they have only mowed once a month in past years. This year it is every week. It freaks my cattle...I mean big dogs....out.

You could just act like you're crazy and you didn't even know it was a cow 🤷🏼‍♀️ I bet it would work
