Well I'm still hatching and selling. People are buying more this year than last year. I have truly enjoyed helping people and helping them learn.

I plan on keeping the bators going for two more months. What isn't sold will find a home or a freezer.

This is a Deathlayer Golden laced polish cross. It's siblings is all black 🤷🏼‍♀️ genetics loves messing with me.

Anyone else providing their own meat?

Awwwwww! Will you be keeping a couple? If so I would love to see how they turn out.

We have not had to butcher.....yet. I "could" but I only have older laying hens. No rooster to replenish my numbers or give me cockerels for the table. For now I will be grateful for the eggs.

Roosters ARE legal here but the noise ordinance and nuisance rules come into play. I have not gotten the "get a roo" bug yet. I did buy a drake so next year there could be ducks for the table.

Very cute!

As for meat, well, I haven't been to a grocery store in well over 2 months so have been living on meats from my freezer. And I have a fair amount left. Plus I have some meat chicks and future meat producers coming in a few weeks so I guess technically I will be providing my own meat .....if things go according to plan. :fl

Yes, I'll be keeping the ones I like the most. I'll probably keep 4 and grow them out and see which ones are pullets.

I have 4 Cockerels I need to butcher this weekend. They're maybe 20 weeks old and are jersey giant crosses and olive egger crosses.

I have no idea how they'll feather out. I have more hatching today and tomorrow.

All from my flock

I have 4 turkeys and 8 meat chickens I'm growing. 4 Cockerels I have to butcher this weekend. I also have some quail I'm going to butcher.

I have ducklings but I think my friend wanted them but if not I'll be butchering those too.

This one @KDOGG331 I don't get genetics 😂 they're from the exact same parents.

I'm doing meat chickens and turkeys for the first time this year. I'm going in with 3 other people. I'm apprehensive about it.
I was a bit against it in the beginning until it was done and over with and my family was eating it at the dinner table. After that I didn't mind the idea of raising our own meat especially after this whole virus. We can barely find any meat on the shelves and it's getting less and less plus the prices are rising.

If I'm going to pay more for me, I would rather it be me that I've raised and fed plus butchered. At least I know the meat was raised humanely and I know what they are eating.

Wish I lived near this farm in Ohio. Selling 300lb hogs direct to public for $140. Can't send them to market with processing companies closed and have to make room for piglets.

There was somebody advertising piglets of a very good breed and They didn't want much money for them I think about $40 per piglet.

The numbers that they leave have been flying off the advertisement.

So many people are looking to raise their own meat and I'm wondering if it will have an effect on the meat market when they come back full force.

once you get a taste of homegrown meat, you never want to go back to the store...
