Spent the day cooking and trying to recover from being stressed out all the time. :T I learned how to make egg custard from scratch, and a lactose free version with coconut milk that's super easy and tastes amazing.

A few people bailed on my holiday plan for tomorrow but that's understandable. We're going to put some games online to hang out with people from a distance if they want to. And we're still eating our fruit tart and twice baked honey cakes and planting seeds and celebrating even if it's just my household.

Oh I would risk the coronavirus for a party like that! Sounds yummy

It was very interesting to read about how Singapore has dealt with the Covid-19 outbreak there. For starters they'd been preparing for it since the SARS outbreak, building hospitals to isolate patients. They have tested so many people, who might have only had the slightest symptom, at a rate where less than 1% are coming back as positive. Anyone who tests positive are isolated immediately in hospital to ensure they have no contact with the wider community where it can be spread further. Any potential contact with others is quickly followed up on and testing organised for those individuals who are showing symptoms. If those people don't have symptoms they are expected to isolate at home regardless and they are checked up on with severe penalties for those found to be breaking the rules.

Here in New Zealand we are up to 28 cases but all are linked to overseas travel and so far there has been no community spread (I'm not holding my breath). Mass gatherings are prohibited with stiff penalties for not complying. Anyone coming to NZ from another country has to self isolate for 14 days and there have already been tourists deported for not complying.

As of 11.59pm tonight (NZ time) our borders will be closed to anyone who is not a permanent citizen or resident. It's certainly pretty scary stuff.

For Australia and New Zealand I think its a good choice to keep themselves separated from the rest of the world for a year or so (until they have a vaccin). But for many countries it is too late or impossible to stop the virus.

In several counties in Europe its certainly too late now to stop Corona19. Like in the Netherlands, a small country with many international contacts. Her they try to control the spreading. Because its impossible to lock down on all activities in the whole country for a year or so (until the vaccin). This would be an economic disaster with a lot of people getting hungry.

Lots of people with a health condition stay at home and hope to be safe. At least for the next months. But there are still too many people who think its not important to keep a distance.:rant

This Corona is 4 x more contagious as a influenza. That explains the fast spreading. International contacts, holidays to other countries explain the intercontinental and vast spreading. And this is why we must keep a distance!

A lot of Dutch people are still somewhere else in the world and got stuck. They can’t get home in the way they planned. Most flights are cancelled and for some tourists it’s too expensive or even impossible to go home now.

My nephew was lucky he could change his ticket and got home last Monday (he was in Washington DC).

This is what is happening where I live. The USA is some days behind and testing is a long way behind. Given the size of the USA and the differences of approach from state to state it could be some time before accurate figures are available. Not wishing to overstate the obvious, it starts off very slowly and grows exponentially. This has been the case in every country as testing becomes more widespread and figures get reported.

I’ve been using google earth for years, I think it’s fabulous! I can get lost for hours looking at stuff, landmarks and places I’ll probably never go, it’s fascinating:)
Also, if you have a newer flatscreen tv, check the back because you might have a USB port that you can plug your iPhone or other smartphone into, then you can show google earth and other stuff on the big screen

My daughter (FL) & nice (HI) just reported "feminine" products are off the shelves also. Time to improvise, told them disposable diapers or even those disposable bed pads, cut them up.

Last weekend I had a sore throat, low grade fever ... Monday called the Dr, tells me no need to come in unless the fever got worst. So gargled with warm water & Hawaiian (rock) salt, drinking lots of warm tea & took cold tablets (which are sold out) for a couple days. Better yet find drinking anything cold affects my throat.

Its sad since our Kupunas (Srs) have a limited income, can't stock up and now can't get what they need. Those hoarding to make a fast buck should all be hunted down and "tar & feathered" ... oops my age is showing.

Yup, went out and got an extra bag of dog food but not able to get any Flock Raiser until "maybe" later part of next week. I've got enough in the freezer for another couple weeks but being on an island, shipping gets disrupted with weather conditions. We've got two storms back to back this coming week ... I usually stock up during the Winter/Spring months because of this.
If nobody has mentioned it, they could try a diva cup. My daughter doesn't have to shop for feminine products because she uses one.
