The latest update from TSC about 5 minutes ago:

Thanks for posting this.
That 6 pm closing might be a problem for people still working.

Fine for me though

I started cutting back on feed a bit. I have really been overfeeding my wee flock and they are very spoiled. I cut back to encourage them to eat what they kick around and play with. They have been getting more timeout in the backyard and enjoying the early Spring bugs and new grass. I check their crops before sending them back to their coop and run and they are full. So no hunger issues there. It's good to know that TSC is staying open. I usually only buy the pine shavings there. However, there are a lot of farmers in my area with livestock to feed so I'm sure they are happy for this news.

I lived in Canada for 20 years. It does happen, it's happening now. My in laws both need joint replacements. Many people wait years for procedures. Basically they were told to forget what they need done. There are not enough doctors or nurses, and hospitals are being closed on the east coast. My sister in law isn't even old, and she has been trying years to get treatment for her heart condition . She needs a defibrillator and a pacemaker. She doesn't have either. She has almost died several times. I could go on and on.
Which is why many seek treatment in the US if they can.

I really don't think the media is trying to pander "fright" to us. At the very heart of it, this is news and they are reporting it (it's what they do). Yes, they do have a tendency to be a little over the top, but take it with a grain of salt and a big dose of maturity. Few of us live in a vacuum so it is important to know that an epidemic is all around us and to take certain precautions. If you are convinced that this is no big thing, then you have the right to feel that way. Just be certain that your cavalier attitude doesn't spread the virus to those with compromised health issues. It's not the end of the world. And life will get back to normal after awhile. Stay healthy and safe. :)

Thank you for that.
My entire household has lifelong issues that make us high risk for serious complications.

A few simple precautions can save so many so much misery.
I will never understand why some feel so cavalier when everyone is at risk from the very young to the very old.

This makes me think of the NBA and a guy I saw from CA I think. He said that the rich shouldn't get tested just because they can afford it.

It's not that I think the rich shouldn't get tested. It's that I think everyone should be able. I think I'm wrong about rich people getting it being the only reason it's a big deal. Countries with a lot more healthcare equity/less poverty than America are also treating this with severity, and the infection and death rate does seem unusually high.

It seems like the government is getting a little more on top of this and more aware of the ramifications for the average working person.

The last I've heard is the tests are still few and far between and very expensive for those without insurance, and the treatment is very expensive even for those who have good insurance, while unaffordable for those without. Is that correct? No one in my immediate family or that I know in my small community has been hospitalized yet, so I don't have any personal knowledge.

Obviously a lot of people have been laid off or lost hours already, and so might have financial concerns. That's before even factoring in the potential cost of getting sick.

They (the Gov) are trying. (I'll leave my personal opinion out of this.)

It's my understanding the test are free to anyone, however in my area there are no tests so "free" tests don't help. Not yet anyway. Treatment though is up to the patient and his/her insurance.

It's wonderful if they are free. The last thing I heard on the radio about a week ago was a lady talking about the tests themselves costing her something like $5000, and since that lines up with my previous experiences of the insurance/healthcare industry, I wasn't even doubtful of her story.

They say in situations like this, you are only as safe as the people around you. If the people around you can't afford to get tested, they could be infecting you unintentionally. One cashier could pass the virus to thousands. Right?

I feel the same as you... I'm getting sick of hearing "it's no big deal" "the media is just scaring people" "I'm young and healthy"

It's a big deal to my family when I have a rare lung disease and this virus affects your lungs. My family is worried sick about me and there's nothing we can do. I can't even assure them that I'll be okay. All we have said is we will not be divided and stick together because we all need each other right now.

I'm worried for everyone who has pre existing conditions or is elderly. I'm honestly worried for everyone because it can knock a healthy person into icu on a ventilator... My Dr is working in the ICU and has seen it with his own eyes. I can't imagine how he feels about all of this.
