My cucumber babies got pretty beat up in a hail storm. I am debating buying new starts and replacing......but that would mean going to the greenhouse which I am sure is crowded.

I am struggling to get things done here. My back is still quite painful. Today will test that as I REALLY REALLY need to get the siding on the duck house.
Hubs was very nice and helped weed the veggie beds. I have quite a few things growing. My pole beans are growing so bunnies better not get frisky this year and eat them....or I will have me some bunny stew! They got every single one I planted last year.
Not the little bunnies 🐰 I was thinking about meat rabbits until I got these bunnies. They are the sweetest things ever. I cuddle them daily.

I don't think I could off these bunnies. They are the cute little ones. There is one that had a bad face injury last year. I thought for sure it would not survive it. It is back though with a big scar but it looks like the eye is ok.

I end up fencing my garden beds in to keep them out. I have posts and a bunch of chicken wire for it.....just need to get it done. The beans are in a raised box this year so MAYBE they will make it.

I can off a chicken or quail any day but bunnies have a secret place in my heart I think.

I had a bunny named Oreo my ex bought me for a $1 on the side of the road when we were tennagers. She lived 10+ years or something like that. When we split he kept her.

My new bunnies are better than Oreo though because they are with my family that’s grown so much since I was a teen.

I named them Sid and Brooke. I think trading the ducks for them was so worth it! Especially when they got out yesterday (I didn’t close the hutch on accident), they were waiting at the door for me 😂 My friend says now they’ll play me all the time for treats.

Pet bunnies have it easy compared to wild ones. :lau
We had several years ago. They lived about 11 years on average.

We have wild ones here too. They don’t really bother anything and my Muscovy chases them off. It’s my security system 😂 She was nipping at ones butt the other day chasing it across the yard.

@CapricornFarm you’ve turned me into a monster 😂 We are converting the kids fort to a double decker coop

And what color should I paint my pallet coop?

We are going with a western theme. I want to make some things or get some things like barrels to hold their drinking water. I’ve literally gone insane... 😂 the straight jacket and padded room will be my next stop. As long as I have my Dolly we can handle it.

Going western......it needs a sign....general store, saloon, county jail, livery stable.....red fancy lettering. Maybe stain it with a transparent grey.....brown is good too.

Since you have kids maybe not a saloon/brothel. :gigno need to have to spain things.

@BigBlueHen53 , the "Omnes" quote is what I remember as the first line of "Caesar's Gallic Wars", which was second year Latin (required course!). Perfect for tenth grade girls! :barnie But traditional! my uncle gave me his 'pony' for it, the best translation ever. One miserable class, I don't recommend it as light reading at all!
My dad had zero sympathy; in his HS they took both Latin and Greek, and he claimed to remember nearly zero of anything.
So much for HS!

Went to a few big box stores today haven't been since this whole thing started, only stayed local small store. We have a local hardware store has everything a Lowes or Home Depot will have but you can't look at everything and pick just what you want, not as convenient. So we went. Monday morning early, packed with people like it was a holiday weekend!! Picked up the various things we needed for our house, and moved on. Had to stop at a Wal-Mart, first time there also since this happened, also PACKED to the hilt with people, just needed a probe thermometer, thawed out some deer meat/venison, have the ingredients already and pig casings to make Landjägers. I could have ordered one online and mailed, definitely need a meat probe thermometer because you want to cook them to temp but not hot enough to melt the fat.
Also stopped at a BJ's wholesale food store, they also had a limit, only one of each meat item... Main reason for stopping at those two..looking for bread yeast..none.
Our local stores none. Our local store I asked in their bakery, said they can only order a week ahead and no none for sale, shortage...
Guess we are going to have to look into making sour dough bread.
I had to order my bread yeast online. Got a fresh new jar now.

Have you grown swiss chard? It is good cooked as well as fresh and is slow to bolt.
Once I harvest spinach I am following with swiss chard there.
*raises hand*
I grow Swiss Chard and have for years.
Nice in between for spinach and kale. I even dry the extras (and kale, and spinach too) so I have it to toss in my soups, stews, and casseroles all year long. It keeps the flavor quite well after being dried.

Yeah, I know that sounds weird, but when you get an entire laundry basket of the stuff from the garden each week, and it's too darned hot to stand at a stove blanching it for freezing, then taking up valuable freezer space you need for meat instead...one tends to get creative.

Pretty to look at too while growing-
