Like Columbus for “discovering” America. He never actually discovered anything. Other people were here well before him. Plus he was a murderer and r*pist 🙄🤦‍♀️

Not really sure how or why he was ever celebrated.
Columbus made the history books because he fit the Euro-centric point of view of the time - you know, where Europe is the beginning and end of all things "civilized" and "important?" Never mind the ancient, thriving cultures of Asia and the Middle East ... or the equally ancient and hugely advanced Aztec, Inca and Mayan civilizations of the so-called "New World." So what if their "technology" involved the stars and not the microchip ... their calendar only recently "ended," with so much todo that many oddballs thought it meant the proverbial End Of The World - which is really absurd, because all truly educated people know that the world actually ends right outside the main viewport of a quaint, but exceedingly trendy and popular little restaurant called, of all things, "The Restaurant At The End Of The Universe!"
And yes, that's another literary tome to add to your Must-Read list. Why? 42!

I read the first three pages of 'Ulysses' and threw in the towel. Hated it!
Some 'classics' are wonderful, and others, not.

Ulysses. Homer. The Iliad ... all books to be savored in small doses, like a series of short stories ... otherwise, your head'll be spinning trying to figure out all the language nuances ... ACK!
Then there's Darwin's Origin of Species. I DARE anyone to try that one on for size. I've never read anything as dry, boring and full of hoo-hah mixed in with some amazingly sound evolutionary theories in my life ... and I will NEVER do it again!
