Have you ever grown Mr. Stripey, before? It's a wonderful tomato - really juicy and sweet and the fruit can get REALLY big! Once you cut them, you have to eat the whole thing. They don't keep well, either in the fridge or out on the counter. They go all mushy & turn sour overnight. As tough as it is to do, if you don't eat all of it in one sitting, feed the leftovers to your chickens before they go bad. As good as they are, though, that doesn't seem to be an issue around here. Once I cut a tomato, it's gone! :)
I was thinking about making a chutney with them and a few other things. They probably won’t last anyways lol. I like cooked tomatoes a lot especially with balsamic.

I didn't have much success cooking Mr. Stripeys. There's so much water in them that they cooked down to almost nothing. They did add sweetness to a sauce, though, and they were amazing on sandwiches. My Stepdad called them "run down your arm" sandwiches, 'cause that's what the juice did when he ate them ... and that was exactly the way he liked 'em! I think of him whenever I make tomato sandwiches, now - and I use it as a barometer as to how good they are. Every time I get a really good tomato sandwich, I miss him all over again ... but I smile!

YES!!! We were just talking about that in another thread!!! Kids see all these YouTubers and Viners and “social media influencers” on instagram and stuff like that and think they can get there too or win a video game tournament (some of them are big bucks) or even just have a viral tweet or video, etc. (look what happened to yodel kid and the cash me outside girl and even Alex from Target went on Ellen and stuff) and think they’ll be set for life. But that’s not how it works. Like yeah, most of the top YouTubers make tens of millions of dollars but they also worked their butts off to get there!!! They didn’t just get there overnight. And even now, it’s still a ton of work. Maybe even more than a “regular” job because they have to spend hours and hours editing the videos, not to mention recording them, plus planning exactly when to release them or what next weeks content will be, and manage the finances and/or hire someone, etc. etc. for most I know, it’s full time job hours (40+) and often far more than that. Staying up late at night and whatnot. Kids think you can just get a camera and hit record and that’s it but there’s A LOT of work that goes on behind the scenes. Not to mention time and money. Lots of money buying the expensive, high quality, top of the line camera and recording equipment to produce high quality videos. And then, if they do get famous, they’re jerks!!
Absolutely, all good points. Plus, just because someone makes quick a bundle from some viral TikTok or instagram or something, without a good education they're not going to benefit from it in the long term.

Too often, people who make it big when they're young through acting, music, athletic talent, beauty, etc. squander it all on frivolities and end up with nothing. Athletic talent or good looks only last a short time, so for long-term success they need to invest in enough education to manage all that money wisely, so they don't end up as prey to unscrupulous "managers." We hear about cases all the time, where the celebrity trusted the wrong person, wasn't educated enough to do proper oversight, and ended up with tax problems, bankruptcy, or with their intellectual property owned by someone else.

It's also a good idea to become educated in a second career so they can continue to be successful after their youth fades.

I bet they’d be good for a salsa if they’re that juicy! I can’t wait to try them. Im still waiting on the Roma’s to get red lol. Feels like it’s taking forever

I did have an 'in person' doctor visit last week, and felt that things were managed pretty well. Nothing is 100% out there, but still, very good.

Very true!!! And it’s so sad!! Or the manager or whoever wants them to be someone they’re not.

We are in an area that goes back to school in early Aug. On Friday school sent out an email stating school will start then but will be one of 3 options..... still to be determined:
Online, modified days/part of the week, or regular school following whatever rules set by the state at the time.
Hmm, that helps me whole lot. 🤨

Talked it over with kiddo, who is firmly in the stay at home please category. Kiddo is not trying to get out of school by this and was actually complimented by teachers the end of last year for
doing such good work after the shut downs and being a very reliable online student.
I know online schooling isn't the best option for every student, but I sure hope we will have the option no matter what happens because I think it will be not only the safest option for my at risk kiddo, but also the least anxiety causing option too.

I don't need to make it big when I'm young ... I wanna make it big NOW!
Years ago, I saw a sweatshirt that I now wish I'd bought. It pled,
"Please give me a chance to prove that WINNING THE LOTTERY wouldn't change me!"
Maybe I should just have it made into a bumper sticker ...
