I'd like my body telling me that it was reacting to the vaccine just a bit more.

I bet it does feel like that. We keep getting overhyped reports of how the vaccine has substantial side effects (and for some people they really are, throwing up for 2 days is no joke) but my understanding is it's actually mostly injection site soreness for most people. Do you usually have reactions to the flu shot?

Fauci Ouchie

OMG! That's inspired!!! :lau

Nearly 48 hours post vaccination and only a very slight tenderness at vaccination site. Not certain that is 100% a good thing.

Someone earlier said there's some theory that reactions are based on individual's historic reaction to vaccines. You may be among the fortunate. I know I had very little reaction. My husband had slightly more. Only tenderness at the injection site but he thinks he can still feel some 3 days post shot.

I didn't make "Fauci Ouchie" up. Got it off of Twitter.

Not trying to plug anything, but there are several models of t-shirts now.... https://www.etsy.com/market/ouchie_tshirt

I am.. husband is, but we still can't get it. Not fast enough to get the appt online..for husband..he's over 70, I'm 67 so not far behind him. Should be able to soon. We're told they are hurrying up the process, and making it easier to find out where to go, let's hope so.

I've heard people in several locations say all the indicators were that the vaccine wasn't available and wouldn't be in the foreseeable future until it suddenly was. But, once it's available, they don't seem to send up any rockets. You have to get a tip or keep trying. So do keep trying and I hope it will roll out in your area soon.

In my area it was the county board of health website that suddenly had notification of injection sites and sign ups for appointments. But wherever you are you have an elected official who must know where the information will be posted and how to point you at it.

Little to no reaction to the flu shot.

Well that could be a really good indicator as to why. Most of the side effects are described as similar to the flu shot, or the same type of symptoms but cranked up to 11. (I don't have a study for this, I know I usually do, but this is information from the doctors I know and the people who got the vaccine.)

I've only had swelling and moderate/lingering injection site pain as a reaction to any shots (vaccines, Novocain at the dentist, antibiotics, birth control, etc.), and my sisters reaction to the vaccine was swelling and arm pain for 2-3 days, so that's what I'm expecting. If your usual reaction to shots/vaccines is almost nothing I would expect the reaction to this shot to be almost nothing.

Curious, sourland. Do you remember what your reaction to chicken pox was when you were a kid? It's purely anecdotal, of course, but when I was a kid I had very little adverse reaction. Itchy bumps to be sure but at the time I thought the whole thing was a great lark. Later, when I got shingles it was an itchy, burny PITA but NOT what other people's agonized shingles reaction seems to be. And, with this Moderna injection, I'm having very little reaction as well.

It may be that some of us are simply less reactive to this or some family of viruses. I know I've done all the running around for my family. I've masked up and gone through antiseptic wipes but I've hardly been what you might call diligent or scrupulous and I haven't been infected yet. Sometimes it surprises me but then I've always given my immune system its proper workout and am more subject to the diseases of an over reactive immune system: asthma, psoriasis, etc.

Again, purely anecdotal but possibly of passing interest.

🤔 🤔 🤔 I think the worse side effects are probably just over-reported out of an abundance of caution. Anyone who's anyone knows there's been a couple dozen cases of anaphylaxis with the vaccine and all of those people have recovered fully. Nobody wants to go in unprepared and if you go in thinking it's gonna be rough and it isn't most people feel better about it. Like strong side effects definitely occur. I know people who have had a bad time. But the more people I know who get vaccinated the fewer of them I hear about having bad side effects.

Still gonna take one day off for each person in our household when we can get the vaccine and space them out. Just in case.

I remember my older sisters having chicken pox, but do not remember having it myself. I also do not remember having mumps. Measles I had - resulting in the 'Green snake in the Saltines box' dream. :lau I am curious to see what reaction you have to the second shot.
