Lets say that the doctors and nurses are stressed, overworked, and overwhelmed by what they are facing, every day, at the hospital/ emergency room where they work. I couldn't do it for a week, much less two years. Mistakes and other difficulties are so much more likely to happen under these circumstances!
We've been in ERs multiple times over the years, back during 'normal' times, and things can be chaotic. Now, really miserable.

My boss ended up going to the nurses station and complaining and demanding release papers. All of a sudden doctor shows up. I think there isnt a link between "care" and "caring". Yes, they are overworked. But if you hadnt demanded they be vaxxed some wouldnt have quit and youd have staffing. More importantly if someone can be taken care of quickly without admitting them you free up a bed! These hospitals are poorly run.

I cannot wrap my head around emergency use for 2 experimental treatments (havent fully gone through clinical trials for full FDA approval yet) can be used to treat this.... yet a medicine that has full FDA approval cannot be used experimentally (off label) to try to combat it.

The people shun the proven medication with known side effects being used off label..... and flock to the experimental drug being pushed not fully vetted and proven. This country is split down the middle. Each person's medical choices have now been politicized vs supported.

The next few years will prove to be interesting.

You apparently know something I don't. To what medication are you referring here, please? And can you cite a source for this?

Same questions. Thanks.

Point is if the doctor is that concerned about 90% bol that he wants to put someone on a ventilator and then lets 4 hours go by after refusal without doing a nasal cannula? Its like theyre trying to kill people....
I have seen people crump pretty fast but 90% SpO2 doesn't sound like he is ready to be intubated. As far as the ED, even the Feds can't print money fast enough to get me to work down there.

I think youre refering to something along the lines of the dallas buyers club but I could be wrong.

Im so glad my boss had POA because otherwise his grandfather would be dead. Intubation is a last ditch effort not a solution

Its a christmas miracule :wee what happens across the pond usually takes place 3 months later here.
I hope the death rate is as low here. It will be another comparison between low percentage of vaccinated and high percent of vaccinated. Still not a very good comparison because of seasonal timing and treatment differences.

There are a lot of medications used off label for different things. For instance, people with chronic urticaria often use zantac and other similar meds for their hives if normal meds don't work because they have an antihistamine in them. I used an anti malaria drug for mine for a while, because it helps with the hives and not because I had malaria. It happens with a lot of meds.

Well, hubs is pretty much over covid already. He had an extremely mild case with a fever for only a day and half, it peaked at 100.5 for about 5 seconds. Even the respiratory symptoms have been mild. Never needed medication for congestion or anything. He has taste and smell too, I feel like smacking him for that lol.

Morning everybody.
  • CDC shortens quarantine time for exposed healthcare workers
  • FDA approves new Merck antiviral for use
  • Flights cancelled due to Covid surge
  • Omicron patients have symptoms similar to parainfluenza with no loss of taste or smell as with other covid varients

Having my echocardiogram done today. Hopefully Santa brings me some good news. My dads fruit came from Florida. Gotta call the pharmacy to see if I can eat the grapefruit but so far just snacking on the clementines and oranges
