Your right. (Let me get that out there first. And it doesn't change!)
A lot of us try to lighten up the situation hoping to put the patient at ease. It doesn't work for everyone obviously. I try to assess that before I try but even then there are some fails.
I apologise on behalf of us jerks.
No need to apologize. I just have a preference when it comes to my healthcare. Some people like the joking and light heartedness. But to me it comes off like I'm not being taken seriously. For instance when I went in for my molar prep after my root canal the dentist had to suck out the tooth plug before drilling. As it came out the straw it made a popping sound. He chuckled and said to his assistant that "that's so satisfying". I found that grossly inappropriate. My mouth is not your YouTube video.

No, they made us do each other first. This was in the 70 s , no gloves either.
My nursing school was good at hands on training. A lot teach mostly theory and management. You may never a shot or put in a tube before you are a working nurse.
One day we were reviewing "universal precautions" and the teacher said "Just remember, if it's warm, wet and someone else's, Don't touch it! Unless your in Love" :lau

I wouldn't even say that. I love my husband but I'm not about to touch his nostrils lol.

Just filled up on gas. 4.39 a gallon. I heard on the news that Russia only provides 8 % of our oil and 3% of that is crude. Why does that equate to this price hike? Makes no dang sense

Oil prices are a world wide thing. Everyone is competing for oil. So the oil from somewhere else is worth more. Supply and demand

Oil is fungible (like cash). In economic theory, it all goes into a tank and is drawn off. The actual oil you get may not be from the person you paid for it, just like the cash you get from the ATM is not the same cash you put in the bank.
The price is set by supply and demand on the world market.

Two reasons, probably. We aren't the only country that stopped buying from Russia; those countries will also be looking for other sources.

And that isn't the only thing directly affecting oil production that happened in the past two weeks. There is also the "pause" on any drilling permits in the US. Whether it is as temporary as advertised or not, and whether the climate change social cost calculations added to the cost of oil production are good ideas or not they all add to the actual and estimated costs and to the uncertainty with also affects the market badly.

We will probably never know how much each contributes but certainly both do.

Remember that both the prez* and his last boss both bragged about how high they were going to push the gasoline prices.
And a huge amount of that gasoline price is taxes. (it varies state to state). The cost is also higher because of mandated ethanol additives (which have been proven to be a detriment to the environment).
Without taxes and crony capitalism, gasoline would be cheaper than bottled water. I learned that back in the 60's and it hasn't changed. THAT is who is making the windfall profits (taxes).

Huh I always thought it was based on the cost per barrel
