Are they required to label that as such? Or rather... do they??

And oh wow!! :hugs

I can’t even imagine how hard that must be :hugs
Unfortunately they don't. Some caring companies try, but most of your big ag/big food companies don't. The last couple of years at least most are starting (starting) to have little allergy blips on their company websites, but still, hard to find.

It's up to the person, or the parent, after being handed epi-pens and a laundry list of potential killers to go figure it out for themselves.
Milk alone is broken down onto about 20 sub-ingredients with names you have to learn, learn to pronounce, and learn to recognize. They are used in foods and places that you would not believe.
Then, just when you are used to buying food X, because it's "safe" they change the ingredients without a warning or label changes other than a minuscule new ingredient on the backside of the label. The one you didn't realize had changed until you, or your child gets sick.

And thank you. Thankfully I've been at this for a while and have learned a lot.

*facepalm* :he

Thank you! I’ll have to try those. Have you tried oat milk? I’ve heard that’s supposed to be really good but I’m a bit nervous to try it.

Oh it's delicious. I'm lactose intolerant so while I can get lactose free dairy, it's easier getting alternatives instead.

Oat and hemp milk are my favorites right now. Hemp is thinner but has a distinctly nutty flavor, oat comes in different formulations (depends on manufacturer) and some is actually decently thick, closer to dairy milk.

It's like when they use the term natural flavoring or natural flavor, usually it contains an animal product but they do not say that. I stay away from those words

Update from Italy. Professor Walter Ricciardi, scientific adviser to Italy’s minister of health said:
The way in which we code deaths in our country is very generous in the sense that all the people who die in hospitals with the coronavirus are deemed to be dying of the coronavirus […] On re-evaluation by the National Institute of Health, only 12 per cent of death certificates have shown a direct causality from coronavirus, while 88 per cent of patients who have died have at least one pre-morbidity – many had two or three,”
In other words, the virus for the 88% was simply the last straw.

And the president of the Italian Civil Protection Service said in a morning briefing on 20/03:
I want you to remember these people died WITH the coronavirus and not FROM the coronavirus
