I think a lot of that is cya because it would be off script for what it's normally prescribed for. No covid controlled testing/studies done with it.
I was just watching something on PBS and they were talking about the need for studying existing drugs, but no money for the studies. Big pharma has the money for the testing and pay more to the Drs than little places.
Another issue with the for profit healthcare system.
Without sick and ailing humans the pharmaceutical indu$try has no profit. There will never be any cures forthcoming.

My Dr had prescribed something for my neuropathy that didn't work for my neuropathy but DID work for my anxiety. When I told him this he took me off it and prescribed me a different anxiety medication that didn't work. I requested to go back on the other medication but he said that that medication is not for anxiety so he couldn't prescribe it for it. Sadly I think it depends on the doctor and insurance.

It must. I have been prescribed off label use drugs. Specifically propranolol and wellbutrin

Propranolol approved use: irregular heartbeat
Off label use: stage fright type anxiety

Wellbutrin approved use: G.A.D
Off label use: to quit smoking

Did it work to help you quit? My doctor is very "by the book" for insurance. After prescribing me two different medications that didn't work he referred me to "pain management". Which was confusing to me because that was the neurologist. Isn't that what he was doing? Cause he certainly wasn't treating it...

Yes and no. The physical addiction ithelped alot. I would be doing something and think, man I d9nt crave a cigarette. The problem though was the habit of smoking. Like the subconscious grabbing a cigarette to smoke, or after I ate or something like that if that makes sense

Makes total sense. For a while after quitting you have to consciously substitute another physical activity. Filing your nails, perhaps, or chewing gum. Going for a walk or run. I used to "ghost smoke," go through the motions of smoking. It didn't last long.

Makes perfect sense. I once quit for 5 years. Curbbed it by chewing on straws

I had switched to vaping when it first came out. Lungs felt better. I thought if I reduced the % of nicotine I could end up not needing it. Just vaped more so that didn't work lol
When I got covid I coughed so much for a month I couldn't. So I threw everything away and still had cravings for months . So far I haven't gone back

I 'quit' alcohol 32 years and 37 days ago. I 'quit' nicotine 15 years ago. For me nicotine was/is the harder addiction. I would still be using chew tobacco if the Princess hadn't 'made' me promise to quit. I hope to NEVER drink again, but if given a terminal diagnosis I will immediately buy bags of Levi Garret and Redman - the green bag. Don't go back!
