That's why I swore off drinking. At age six.Congrats
I don't drink at all but knew alcoholics and it was a terrible sight
A friend of mine has struggled with nicotine addiction, no longer smokes. He jokes that when he sees someone smoking he wants to snatch the cigarette out of their hand and take a drag!
Wow. Guess I really ... fortunate ... that I don't experience this at all. Since I got set free from my nicotine addiction back in April, 2010 (on my birthday), I've never had a craving or even thought about it. It's as if I never smoked.I feel the same way when someone at a field trial reaches into their back pocket and pulls out a bag of chew.![]()
Might also depend on how long you smoked for. I started at 16 but quit after one year and didn't start up again until the stress of my mom passing at age 20. But before that I had zero cravings or desireWow. Guess I really ... fortunate ... that I don't experience this at all. I smoked from age 13 to 18. I think I didn't smoke for 23 years but had cravings and dreams that I started up again and couldn't quit. Sure enough, I started up again, then smoked for 17 years and could not quit, would have panic attacks if I even thought about quitting. But did quit through prayer, which took about a year, and after I had my last smoke - that was it. I just never wanted another one. That was 14+ years ago.Might also depend on how long you smoked for. I started at 16 but quit after one year and didn't start up again until the stress of my mom passing at age 20. Everyone is different neurologically and biologically so we don't fully understand why some people still crave it and others don't. Stress was a main factor for me starting again as it was for you. If prayer worked for you to quit tho than I'm proud of you. I've found myself on a different path as it hasn't worked for meI smoked from age 13 to 18. Exactly right. Different things work for different people, so it's wonderful there are so many options! I know some people swear by Chantix but that had very negative emotional effects for me (perhaps bc I'm bipolar?). Some benefit from Wellbutrin. Others can use nicotine gum/ patch with good success. Whatever works, quitting is a good idea! Better yet, don't start!Everyone is different neurologically and biologically so we don't fully understand why some people still crave it and others don't.
