My beagle laid out on the sun porch today. He seemed really happy.

Technically she is pouting. She is OBSESSED with the duckling which are terrified of her. I refuse to let her in the bird room.
She actually throws flailing baby fits about it....literally throwing herself on the sofa and flailing like a two year old having a tantrum.

I get the feeling ya'll don't see it because you literally don't see it. Like you don't see it so it must not be happening? If only that were how it actually worked I'm sure everyone'd be really happy.
But you don't know what you don't know. (Kind of goes for everyone and everything.) So personally I believe minorities when they tell me they have problems. (Especially since it's pretty well documented.)

Well it's not like anything has actually happened to me (at least I've experienced nothing worse than someone wondering if I speak English), but I've certainly heard from other people whose experiences were... less nice than that. So maybe I've just been lucky, or maybe it's that I "act white", whatever the heck that means (though it's been pointed out to me by many people).

Obviously with current news, they've highlighted cases of lingering racism/bias, so I'm mindful of that since I realize that I do stand out, given that I live in an area that has a lower minority population.

I think you will find BYC is a very supportive very diverse group of great people.
Even when there are differences of opinion things are pretty civil.

Totally! Differing opinions is good- critical thinking. I crave intelligent conversation , after answering 400 “why” frommy four year old.

I just found out my cousin was supposed to have a medical procedure last week but it was cancelled because of CV 19. He died.
Not sure what the procedure was, I was in shock and don't remember. He had lupus and COPD. So in a way CV 19 got him

Gov Cuomo mentioned in his TV appearance today that all those cases (didn't mention ODs) are way down.

I saw a segment today with whomever it is that runs FDNY/Rescue (don't remember his name) and he said generally they get about 60 cardiac arrest calls per day, but now they are getting about 350 calls a day.
Over 10% of personnel are out sick and they are having to change how they treat people who cannot be ressucitated on scene. Normally they take them to the hospital for further attemps (didn't specify how successful that is under normal circumstances) and now they are not doing that.

I long for the day when people look at one another and see the good and the commonality inside.....not what appears on the outside and reacting to that because it doesn't look like their own mirrors. I've found it in a few places I've lived.....and I love that, but it's so rare.

Every race, every ethnicity, every culture is so beautiful. The natural world is full of so much diversity and beauty, why should people be any different?
