I'm not familiar with Michigan's situation other than Trump having singled out Gov. Gretchen Whitmer for very personal attacks. Meanwhile, regardless of whether there's personal animus or the governor made mistakes -- again I'm not familiar with that situation -- the citizens of Michigan still have a right to expect full cooperation from their President.

We can disagree about whether the President or Gov. Cuomo is a more reliable source about the availability and price of equipment. The fact that governors are beginning to rely on one another in preference to the federal government strikes me as conclusive.

Meanwhile, the fact remains that there has been stunning dismissal of the circumstances in favor of magical thinking at the federal level.

  • "We do have a plan and we think it's gonna be handled very well, we've already handled it very well. — President Trump to CBS News White House correspondent Paula Reid in Davos, Switzerland 1/22/20
  • "Just received a briefing on the Coronavirus in China from all of our GREAT agencies, who are also working closely with China. We will continue to monitor the ongoing developments. We have the best experts anywhere in the world, and they are on top of it 24/7!" the president tweeted 1/29
  • On this day, the World Health Organization declares coronavirus a public-health emergency. "We think we have it very well under control. We have very little problem in this country at this moment — five — and those people are all recuperating successfully. But we're working very closely with China and other countries, and we think it's going to have a very good ending for us … that I can assure you," Mr. Trump said at a speech at a Michigan manufacturing plant 1/30
  • "The Coronavirus is very much under control in the USA. We are in contact with everyone and all relevant countries. CDC & World Health have been working hard and very smart. Stock Market starting to look very good to me!" the president tweeted 2/24
  • "I want you to understand something that shocked me when I saw it that — and I spoke with Dr. Fauci on this, and I was really amazed, and I think most people are amazed to hear it: The flu, in our country, kills from 25,000 people to 69,000 people a year. That was shocking to me. And, so far, if you look at what we have with the 15 people and their recovery, one is — one is pretty sick but hopefully will recover, but the others are in great shape. But think of that: 25,000 to 69,000. ... "And again, when you have 15 people, and the 15 within a couple of days is going to be down to close to zero, that's a pretty good job we've done," the president said during a Coronavirus Task Force Press briefing at the White House 2/26
  • "Yeah, I think where these people are flying, it's safe to fly. And large portions of the world are very safe to fly. So we don't want to say anything other than that. And we have closed down certain sections of the world, frankly, and they've sort of automatically closed them also. They'll understand that and they understand it better, perhaps, than anybody. Yes, it's safe." — White House meeting with airline executives 3/4
  • "Anybody that wants a test can get a test. ... The tests are all perfect, like the letter was perfect, the transcription was perfect, right?" — CDC headquarters in Atlanta 3/6
  • "I think Easter Sunday — you'll have packed churches all over our country." — Fox News town hall 3/24
  • "I said it was going away - and it is going away." — White House Coronavirus Task Force Briefing 4/3
Note that he was aware of the emergency in January and didn't even begin taking action until March. That's a long interval in which real planning and equipping could have been going on.

Here we can again agree to disagree. Maybe the Secretary of the Navy wasn't acting on Trump's orders in replacing Capt. Crozier. Maybe writing a letter or chain of command are more important considerations than 5000 sailors in close quarters being exposed continually to Covid-19. Maybe this is the only time this will happen. Maybe the confidence of service members everywhere isn't shaken by the firing of a commanding order who tried to protect his crew.

Again, in Trump's own words:

OK on this one. I concede that he used the word "miracle" and I interpreted "magical". Still, it was fuzzy thinking based on the idea that he can make things happen by saying them. Lives have already been lost and will continue to be because of this neglectful lack of response.
:bow. Well written.

How is that possible? I thought only the OP could change the thread name.

I have a Ford windstar that needs a transmission rebuild... I would need something to test it after the rebuild right? Before installing it back in the car.

Bragger! :smackand one for good measure!

Seriously though....it will be runnier but I would go with 7/8 cup alcohol and 1/8 cup aloe. You don't want to dilute it much at all or you'll drop below the effective % of alcohol.

LOL.....I have plenty of 91% alcohol and plain aloe gel too...... **slinks behind couch**

Thank you for posting this. This is the ripple effect. I don't think most people understand how interconnected things are or the impacts levers have (the butterfly effect?), but this video explains this instance in a very easy to understand way (in my opinion).

I saw someone posting about meat processing plants closing. Yes, some have, but there are almost 900 plants in the US. That's 18 plants per state!! It will take a lot more than a few closing to have a real impact.

There was a post from site Admin specifically saying we are not to discuss politics in this thread. Can we let this go?
