How has Covid 19 affected my life :

All field trial activity - canceled :barnie
May trip to California for Grandson's graduation - canceled
Easter with family - canceled
My birthday trip to Chincoteague - ain't gonna happen
August trip to Germany - Obermerrgau and Passion Play = canceled
Thanksgiving and Christmas - :fl

So far we remain healthy, have adequate TP and food, spend a lot of time laughing and enjoying one another. My pity on anyone isolated with someone they don't like/enjoy.

I hear ya with the Germany trip. I have family in Munich and near Saarbrucken . I miss my cousin. I was planning a trip at some point and hopefully go to the Dressage at Aachen . Or anything. She lives an hour away from where I lived for 2 years.

Chincoteague? Maybe next year? Christmas I will not give up even if I wear a mask and gloves. What's field trial?

My misses.
Long Island in August.
Germany
daughter and family who live 9 miles away
I need a hair cut
I need new glasses badly.
missing a trip to florida to visit my parents

Yes we have tp and food and wine, LOL. Amazon is at my fingertips. Extra time with my chicken family of 23. Wine.com, Staying in my 100 year old farm house. All pretty healthy. Meeting great people on this thread!

That's it

We got our new roosters. Oh my goodness. They're gorgeous and their tail feathers are amazing. I'll get pics tomorrow once they settle in a bit better. My ladies have been fighting them 😂
Can't wait for the pics! I've had wonderful roos in the past, one BO, and probably 3 JG's and one Polish roo. They have amazed me to no end. Now I have 6 silkie roos. I hatched 10 and ended up with 7 roos. But I knew they could have bachelor pens mostly. I do love roos, so full of personality. Do things for the girls that amazed me, like by BO roo jumping up knocking rose petals to the ground for his girls. One JG used to fly up on my hub's arm every time he held it out. One Polish roo who did make the rounds at night to make sure all the hens were in. some would take a treat only to drop it on the ground for the hens, and never really get a treat.

OH the Dr Oz guy said 5 days of 250 zinc only if you have symptoms...any longer or more you will need a ton of TP
I will do anything for my TP.
My mom has had a hard long two months because of this virus. She is running several rehabilitation homes that have seen this virus creep in the doors. She's seen patients who used to laugh and smile die. She has to put her game face on every day at work, but at home she's an emotional wreck. When she's not at work she's getting phone calls all night long.

Think the worse part for her is the family members who are not understanding of why they have to refuse visitors. Some get quite violent or call threatening bodily harm to workers.

I didn't even want to tell her my news because now she has to stress about it.

I just want this to all end... For everyone
that's sad I hope she feels better, How many people have died at the rehabilitation homes because of the virus, that you know of?
I hate to change the subject but I moved here a year ago and my property is clay. It's awful. So we built some raised boxes to grow stuff. Then I ordered 3 yards of "garden mix" dirt which is supposed to be 60% soil (not clay), 20% sand, and 20% compost.

I go out today and the box I planted had a thick layer of crust on top. I water and the water takes forever to drain. And if I plant seeds they will never be able to push thru this crust. They also said it would be screened and OMG! there's a lot of sticks and stuff in it. I can't see any sand or compost. But the worst is I will not be able to plant seeds in there and expect them to break thru the crust. I just want to cry. Does this sound like garden mix?
Our place is all clay too and use to take forever to dry out. Before I moved in Someone farmed my property so the soil must have been workable at one point. I asked a local farmer to come out and look at it and he just so happened to remember where the original drain tile was ran. I went out and ran some new tile right next to the old stuff and problem fixed. It's interesting how much better well drained clay can grow plants.

If you want you can post some pictures of your place I might be able to tell if it's worth getting someone out there to see if it can be tiled. If it was once agriculture then most likely it can be drained.

I built some raised beds for the finicky plants and had someone come out and deliver top soil.
Don't feel stupid.... How do you think I knew what was wrong
It's probably just this technology were dealing with. :thumbsup

None have died in her facilities

Yeah exactly!! So I feel like it’s processed foods in general not exclusively sugar but idk.

And thanks! That’s helpful! Though not sure I wanna go on a diet the rest of my life  :th

I’d rather just try to eat healthier.

But I do think my calories will be way reduced anyway if I just switch to regular meal times and cooking instead of just all the snacking I do. :lau

Thing is processed foods have more calories and you really have to think about how many calories you want to spend on it. You can certainly have it-at a price. :D
For those who celebrate Easter, I was reminded, earlier this week, that it's okay if the churches are empty on Easter. The tomb was empty, too.
Gave me goosebumps!

I do not think it is bad if you hold the service outside and maintain your 6 feet. I would be the one who fights them-right into jail! Because there is not really any rule for anyone who maintains their 6 feet whether on a sidewalk or in a parking lot. How many can they arrest if they throw you in the back of their car -and maintain 6 feet? Define gathering or group. It does not include anyone with 6 feet of space around them. I can see following the rules/reasoning , but I can't see Police ticketing people for being 6 feet apart. And there are no laws written for these guidelines anyway.

Here they are. They're amazing. I cannot wait to get some of their offspring.

I know!! My dogs are on lockdown too....no walkies. Kitty.....well she is very old and NEVER goes outside but if she did...mask would be required!

Meanwhile in my neck of the woods, I've never seen so many dogs being walked before. Families who used to just let their dogs wander in the yard are actually going for walks now. So I guess dog walking/family walking is the thing to do now.

3112 cases in AZ, 97 deaths. Spread is increasing. 20 to 44 year olds still outpace all other groups by a considerable margine. 47% male/53% female

Interesting how those stats are kind of reversed from what I would expect, especially male v female. Would you say it's reflective of maybe who is out and about vs who is choosing to stay in, or...?

I usually put like 2, 3, 4, sometimes just pour in a tiny cup. usually a small spoon but still. I realized today though that I don’t even usually taste it before I add more and it’s actually usually too sweet for me and doesn’t fully mix in so I think I am wasting sugar and ruining my health for nothing. I’ll try one or two before adding more.

I do sometimes have a problem with binge eating and/or late night eating though so it might help.

With drinks (coffee, tea) I do like them sweetened, but my aim is just barely sweet enough. Sugar can take a while to dissolve (especially since I use raw or demerara sugar) so if you stop at the point where you can barely taste it, and give it a few minutes, it should even itself out to a nice level that's there, but not overwhelming.

Brush your teeth earlier so it's more of an annoyance to snack at night.

True! But it is tasty 😂😍 maybe I should get some fruit to help cut back on the processed sugar? Or is it basically the same?

Benefit of fruit is fiber and other natural vitamins/nutrients. I've been trying to snack on fruit instead of junk lately since I think a lot of us are stress cooking/eating.
