There was two people fighting over food in the shop yesterday and I’m hearing about people stealing toilet roll and bread from peoples trolleys.

Funny thing is bread is still widely available in my area (I just got back from the store and walked around to "take inventory"). Almost all fresh foods were well stocked minus some meats (like ground meat was sparse). Ramen and canned soup have been cleaned out. I guess if you don't cook, you're going to struggle, and if you do, there's no shortage of ingredients. Only thing on my list that I didn't get was tissue (they had some but I wanted a 3 pack).

Our local library system has started offering free lunches to kids who are stuck home from school. A lot of people in my area are very low income and these kids might not have been able to eat lunch - or meals at all - without this program. I'm relieved to see it happening even if it's not enough.

Most groceries aren't doing too bad around here. It seems to be only the high end ones fighting to keep things in stock. Not sure if that's cause rich doofuses doof or if that's cause poorer people can't afford to stock up, tbh.

I still believe it all started with 4Chan. Most people have not a clue how much TP they go through in a month.

The one local yardsale group on FB people are complaining that baby wipes are all sold out. Moms are freaking how am I going to change diapers. I am just sitting here reading the panic and shaking my head.

I can guarantee the people stocking up will in a few more weeks be selling those supplies for big bucks.

20 new cases in Ireland today.
the parking lots are packed here and the shelves are all empty, We cannot get any bread.. Everyone’s gone mad.

We bake our own bread here. It is times like this that I am so grateful I am allergic to soybeans. I am prepared to make bread, pasta, soups, and many other foods from scratch.
