It may, it may not. Depends on how and why. There's a lot of people in prison for some pretty minor non-violent infractions, like weed possession. Those people released early have a better chance of reintegrating into society and a longer sentence doesn't actually make us any safer. So it may be more beneficial long-term.

And changing people over to house arrest or releasing them early, especially if they have somewhere to go home to, also helps flatten the curve and keep our hospitals from being overwhelmed.

Ultimately if someone has a violent infraction I'm sure they'll stay put. But this WILL sweep through prisons aggressively and the people there - staff and prisoners alike - will be affected. And they are still humans too.

Well. Now it's time for bed. D and I spent most of the day working on cleaning up the spare room to retrofit it for him.

Tomorrow it's off to the garage to clean up bunny cages and floors and tidy things up! We have beef wellington supplies for dinner. Yum!

Goodnight folks!

Our home state is locked down now with no groups over 50 people and closing all restaurants and bars and having people enforce 1984 social distancing laws in stores. Washington State. We got out early February for a funeral in Mexico and are now stuck in Baja since everything is going crazy in USA. Our birds are at a friend's friend's house in Santa Rosa, CA and duck is losing feathers we want to get them but it's a 30 day quarentine going either way USA Mexico for birds. Can anyone help them? This is not a virus it's the start of martial law. 74,000 people die of flu yearly in USA and they never flip out like this.

@FortCluck ...can I ask why you were in the icu? Is it related? Please rest...lots of fluids and vitamins, and sleep!!
I had sepsis and pneumonia... Not related to Covid19. I was tested for it though very easily.

Sad that now they don't test people as easily as they tested me weeks ago.

Here there is a shortage of laboratories and medics who can do the testing. Thats why the numbers of positive tested is much lower than the real numbers of infected people in the Netherlands (and probably all over the world)

The good news is that many people don't get very sick of this coronacrap. Many just have mild symptoms.

At first it was only abstract hearing and reading the news. But now there are people I know (and hugged) who had contact with infected people over 2 weeks ago, and didn't get really sick. They even don't know if they had a light cold or a Corona light (sounds like a brand of cigars :gig ) . Downside is not knowing. They don't know if they are immune. And I don’t know if I could have been mildly infected too.

More testing labs would be nice.

The self test you can buy on the internet are expensive and not reliable.

Positive side effect of Corona:
Marshall Burke, a researcher at Stanford University, calculated that the improvements in air quality recorded in China may have saved the lives of 4,000 children under 5 years old and 73,000 adults over 70. Read his blog post. Better air is saving more people than coronavirus is killing, in other words. Traffic is down in some of Europe’s dirtiest cities, which have chronically failed to respect EU air quality limits.

Okay, it's pushing midnight here on the US' East Coast, so I'm turning in. I sure hope I can get to sleep. I almost feel like taking a good dose of Nyquil to make it happen ... but I'm afraid I might need it, later on ... I want my Mommy!
G'Night All ... and thanks for the positivity. I love our community!

FYI, Nyquil has acetaminophen (Paracetamol) which temporarily depletes the immune system's key antioxidant, glutathione, which is crucial to lung health. So IMO it's actually better not to take it when you're sick.
