That's a good idea about the sourdough. I was thinking about trying to find a starter the other day. When I went to the store a couple weeks ago I did buy a dozen packets of yeast, though. So we'll be good for a while on the bread front

You can make your own starter. It just takes time so get some yeast and get started making bread now. Also start growing your starter now and it will be ready in 10 days or so.

You can also reserve a portion of the dough you make with yeast as "old dough". That also become a starter.

Breads made with sourdough, old doughs, preferments, etc. require more time in the rising phase but develop great flavor in return.

Oh good! Glad you were able to get allergy medicine, but also TP! Score :D It's still so odd that that one is such an issue. You can't eat it, right?

And thank you for the offer, as well :hugs
I heard on the news the number 1 complaint is stomach upset but the media talks about the lung problems because it's the part that kills.

I have some relatives that live in the city about an hour away that told me multiple times when visiting, “y’all know they sale eggs at the store?” Well they called me this weekend panicking about stores have no eggs can they buy some from us.....

We got one of those calls yesterday from someone who works with my husband. My kids (3 adult kids in their own digs) are first in line. Second is my neighbor on the street behind me who hates my rooster but decided not to press the issue when I told him the vND quarantine makes killing him the only option to stop his early morning crowing. And then my 3 closest neighbors on my street.

That's a lot of folks for 9 little hens to feed. But they do their part.

We have about half a dozen rolls (I hope!). I figured that would give me time to source some more but my friends who have been stranded in France are evacuating now. They can't go back to their own home because they've rented it out. So my household of 3 is about to grow to 5 and I'd better find some toilet paper and a lot of other stuff too!
Good luck finding what you need. I saw a report today that 1 person who goes to the bathroom 4 times per day will use 2 rolls in 7 days. I can't believe we have that statistic but can't get much solid info about the bug.

On another note...I've been doing BYC searches to learn about first time incubation hatching and can't seem to find one good thread or article so far. I'm going cross eyed from searching.

Anyone have a suggestion for a good incubator/hatching 101 for dummies?

......asking for a friend.
Both @Pyxis and @WVduckchick have good articles.

Lasagna Gardening, Square Foot Gardening, and my favorite for those with more room... The Vegetable Gardener's Bible by Edward C. Smith.
The latter covers a large variety of good garden practices but in an easy way so that you can take what works for you and break it down into doable steps for new gardeners. He also advocates intensive planting and that's how I do my gardens.

Raspberries...I had wild black raspberries on my other farm and enough to can jams, jellies, and sauces. Here I've got some, but I've found the more cultivated red ones don't seem as hearty anywhere I tried to grow them. They just weren't as rewarding.

I can tell you this though...do NOT plant red raspberries near blackberries. They are similar enough to transfer disease, so keep them apart. By a considerable distance. Otherwise read up on ones they grow well in your area. They can be finicky and they don't tend to like heavy soils, which it sounds like you might have.

Thanks! I will have to look that book up, Sounds good.
