Oh wow that’s so interesting! And also kind of stinks! Haha

And thanks! I’ll definitely have to look into it!!

I’m thinking I may have to cut out dairy. I hate being stuffed up (even though it goes away after a few hours) and I’ve been having a lot of other sinus issues too off and on for a couple years and I heard eliminating dairy can solve it, even long term issues, but I love ice cream too much  and I use butter and cheese and stuff a lot. I could eliminate those though I think.

I’ll have to check out the elimination diet though because I actually have some inflammation sometimes too, mostly if I eat too much salt, my fingers/joints will get all swollen. That’s a new (couple years) one too.

It kind of makes me wonder if there isn’t something bigger going on though considering all these issues all popped up around the same time.
It could be an inflammation or autoimmune response. Also look into an inflammation diet. Most will have you cut dairy initially to see if it's suspect. It doesn't mean you have to stay off it though. Some people are able to resume some dairy after healing their system and figuring out what';s triggering the issues.
And FYI, we love ice cream too. Took me a while but I developed a good dairy free vanilla custard almond milk recipe.

There are a lot of good DF (dairy free) ice cream recipes out there that rely on coconut milk that I hear are good, but we are not fans of coconut flavored stuff so I haven't tried many of them yet.

Never heard of it, and am happy with what I'm using. Only today when we made a very quick stop at the store, we were limited to one gallon. Guess I won't be making yogurt.
I’m glad you found something that works!! Stinks you could only buy one gallon though. :(

Oat milk is one of my favorite milks
I might have to try it!!

Unfortunately they don't. Some caring companies try, but most of your big ag/big food companies don't. The last couple of years at least most are starting (starting) to have little allergy blips on their company websites, but still, hard to find.

It's up to the person, or the parent, after being handed epi-pens and a laundry list of potential killers to go figure it out for themselves.
Milk alone is broken down onto about 20 sub-ingredients with names you have to learn, learn to pronounce, and learn to recognize. They are used in foods and places that you would not believe.
Then, just when you are used to buying food X, because it's "safe" they change the ingredients without a warning or label changes other than a minuscule new ingredient on the backside of the label. The one you didn't realize had changed until you, or your child gets sick.

And thank you. Thankfully I've been at this for a while and have learned a lot.
Oh wow that’s terrible!! I never even thought of some of these things before!! I don’t think I would ever be able to do that. :bow :th

*facepalm* :he

Oh it's delicious. I'm lactose intolerant so while I can get lactose free dairy, it's easier getting alternatives instead.

Oat and hemp milk are my favorites right now. Hemp is thinner but has a distinctly nutty flavor, oat comes in different formulations (depends on manufacturer) and some is actually decently thick, closer to dairy milk.
Thanks for the info! Never heard of hemp milk but have had help protein powder before. May have to go try some of these milks though.

It's like when they use the term natural flavoring or natural flavor, usually it contains an animal product but they do not say that. I stay away from those words
Yeah I heard it could be just about anything. Even beaver musk. I don’t know how true that one is, I highly doubt they are putting beaver in foods, but still. It’s “natural.” I wish they said what was in stuff.

I like putting hemp seeds on my salads they are so good!

I don’t think I’ve ever had them but have had chia seeds.

Thank you again for all the info and help!! I’ll have to look into that too!!

And I’ll have to look into some of the dairy free ice creams. :)

We haven't really been out. I did go to the feed store and bought a truckload of feed. I would have done it anyway because the store down the road that used to carry my feed sold. The new owners are carrying a local brand which is fine, but I'm old and want to stay with my standard feed. It's a ways away, so I decided to stock up some so I don't have to make any trips for awhile. I do worry because I sell my eggs. I could shut down, but what would I do with all of the eggs? I am hatching some, but everyone is laying right now. Handling the money, I don't know where it came from. The last I knew 8 people tested positive in my county but I haven't checked today. I do keep disinfecting wipes next to the change jar. Every time I touch the money, the change jar or the handle on the cooler, I wipe them. I hope it's enough.
I would have a freezer bag. Put on some gloves put money in bag then wash gloves with soap & water. Hang to dry so they can be reused. The bag would zip and leave it a few weeks before handling.

Would think your eggs would be great demand right now.

Good luck. It will all work out.

Back to Corona...

Actually, I have a Coronavirus related question. :p

Do you think all this specialty food will still be available in the grocery stores right now even if everything else is sold out? ;)
