This are the times - in Spain and Italy if they were to people seek if one is for instance 40 years old and the other 60 years old the older was left to die Don´t forget that our health system is very different from yours , for us to provide treatment to a person is a citizen right and the state must provide it
Health system is different correct. You can also pay for private medical care also not just rely on social medicine. Correct you do have to have the money to do so.
Father in law just got back from Portugal 2 weeks ago. He just finished his quarantine.

Yes they have said it may come to that here

The hospitals had shortages of ventilators, until this weekend, and have had to use the surgical inhalators. Which is what my cousin would have needed. My cousin was 70.

The federal government did send ventilators, but there was issues with the ones our county received. They were repaired but not in time

Spain produces a lot of fruit and vegetables for the rest of Europe. Growing food is deeply ingrained in the culture here. Many towns and cities have allotments. At times of shortages of both money and produce these allotments help fill in the gaps in supply.
An example of a government that has lost touch with the people was a ban on going to your allotment.
Thankfully this has now been reversed.

So very sorry for your loss, Molpet.

So just got back from grocery store trip #1 for the week and sure enough, they're out of eggs. Virus + Easter = probably going to be a shortage of eggs for at least a week.
Also... am I seriously the only person on here refusing to wear a mask? I'm all for other people wearing them if it makes them feel better, but honestly I'm giving really wide berth to anyone with one, because unconsciously it does give off the impression that they're sick and I'm wondering if they really are...

I haven't seen anyone cough or as much as sniffle in weeks. Did the common cold die out or are people too afraid to exhibit symptoms 😆

Dunno about you but I'm terrified to cough, sneeze or anything. So yeah, if I have to sneeze, I just suck it up and stop breathing. Worst case scenario, I pass out from lack of oxygen.

I have an appt. for a PET scan (like an xray) It's in an office next door to a hospital. Do I go? Do I wear a mask?

Call the medical office and ask them if the appointment is still on, and what to do if you have concerns, and if there's anything you need to do before going in.

My last doctor's appt went on with no changes from normal other than the check-in asking you if you have fever, dry cough, or live with anyone with those symptoms. While I sat in the exam room I could look out the window at the hospital that was handling all the local cases. If you didn't read the news at all, you'd never know anything was amiss.

Crazy that they could go to the grocery store but not the allotment

So glad you got and took advantage of that warning!

On another topic, it's clear English is your second language and yet you're doing GREAT!

I try to learn other languages. I really try but it just doesn't work for me and I'm terrified to use what little I've ever mastered. I admire your confidence and your skill!
