Yes, of course they do. And that's what takes the longest part of the procedure.

Sometimes afterward he'll have tremendous pain but mostly not. It's just that he's past the point where they help his vision. Now they're just hoping to decrease the deterioration.

That's whatever it is. The point is so many of the eventual side effects come decades after the damage has been done. So take care of yourself NOW so you can prevent them!
Yeah, probably kind of a stupid question haha sorry.

That stinks they don’t work anymore though. :( but I hope they don’t get any worse. :fl

And that’s a good point!! I never thought of that... that they could come way later.

I don’t even really fully know how though either.... I mean, obviously I need to completely cut out all the crap like the sugar and desserts and stuff cause I eat waaaaaaayyyyyy too much of that stuff but is bread still allowed? Potatoes? I don’t know. Maybe I should just start with cutting out the sugar? Cause I feel like that is probably worse than anything else but maybe not. But that one will be tough because practically everything I eat is some form of sugar. Or like I eat it with every meal practically. 🙈

Does this mean I can’t have my tea either?

I think what I really need to do is start cooking because then that way I could be sure it was healthy or whatever but that’s so boring. Better than dying though. 😂 I gotta figure out how to make it taste better though. :hmm

So sorry to hear that. My brother is 69, diabetic since college and then ended up later with a 5 way heart bypass. He is legally blind in one eye. Had a cataract removed that was goofed up and caused problems with his retina. He is very hesitant to have the other cataract removed.

Gee why pay a health professional to mess up your life, when you can do it for free :idunno

Probably best to have this discussion with your physician (not right now... once things calm down!) or a dietician, so you can map out a plan.

With stuff like sugar, it's pretty hard to cut it out completely (and the cravings will be intense) so you'll see more success if you cut back over time. I can sympathize though, I have a huge sweet tooth, though I don't like things that are flat out sweet.

BTW being a stubborn man my brother refuses to wear a face mask. Men seem to be programmed to die from their first breath. No wonder they don't live as long as women.
:lau seeing someone of the stuff boys/men do makes me cringe! Like when my brother used to jump off huge super high jumps or do flips and stuff while skiing and sometimes no helmet or the time he and his friends jumped out of the second floor of the garage into the snow 😂

Granted it was really deep and powdery that year, we had had a huge storm, making the jump/height significantly less, but still kinda crazy. Especially considering the driveway was plowed and door they jumped out of was right over driveway so they had to jump pretty far to the right to get to the snow... could have missed. :th

Or all the videos I see on America’s Funniest Home Videos of people, often guys, doing idiotic and dangerous things. :lau which, btw, often look horribly painful!!!

Yup, men have a death wish!!!! :lau :th

Yeah, probably a good idea!!! I’m hoping I don’t have it and won’t have to but even if I don’t have it, I probably still need to make quite a lot of changes!!!

I’m hoping to have a huge vegetable garden this year with all kinds of different veggies so maybe that will help.

And yeah, I’m not really sure what the best approach is because I’m not good at cutting back and moderation. If I’m eating it, I usually eat tons of it. I feel like just cutting it out completely would be best but that’s hard because like you said, the cravings and stuff. I feel like going to bed earlier might help too though because oddly I get a lot of sugar/junk cravings late at night. I get some during the day too but at night it’s really intense. I’ve also been having to eat more and more of it recently. Like my old levels of sugar aren’t doing it anymore.

So I think maybe a total detox from it and then possibly slowly adding some of it back eventually might be best just so I can break the dependency from it.
