Amen. My county is a rural county, and folks here are following the guidelines. We have the third lowest number of cases and deaths. In the areas where it's life as normal for some folks the stuff is still hitting the fan.
Anybody else planning to stay in well past the "Sure, we can open back up!" orders? With the damage some bull-headed fools are doing by ignoring today's restrictions (or circumventing them the best way they can,) I am truly afraid of what a poorly timed, over-enthusiastic reopening will cause. According to what I've found, the Spanish Flu killed - literally - ten times as many people during the second wave as it did during the first.
Me and Mine? We're staying PUT!

You're not throwing it away. Consider it like an insurance premium, only instead of accident protection, you're paying for solid information. Once you have that knowledge, you can use it to protect and treat any and all of your current and future flocks. If you spread the cost over all of those birds, it's worth it. You're doing the right thing!
Thank you!!! That’s a good point. I guess it’s good for the peace of mind. Although at least with him I already have a pretty good idea of what caused it. I wish I had done a necropsy on that older hen because there was no obvious illness but I couldn’t bring myself to do it because she was my pet. and also I think the body was too old and I thought I knew what caused it. No one else got sick though so I guess I was lucky. Maybe this will help clarify. Although I thought there was no cure for Mareks??? So I can’t really treat it? But maybe it will uncover other issues.

I feel the same way. When I do go out, I'm wearing a face mask (correctly!) and watching many people either wearing none, or not the right way at all. Once it's easier to go to more places, this effect will multiply (must get nails done!?!) and things will not be better.
Until there are more successful treatments for really sick patients, good protection for health workers and first responders, and ADEQUATE TESTING, it's going to be much better to stay at home.
Whenever there's a good vaccine available, finally, the situation will be more back to 'normal'.

Yeah I guess I probably should have just posted the link so I’m sorry but it would feel rude or weird to me to just shove a link in peoples faces instead of just answering??? But idk.

But nobody else had a problem, at least not that they told me, or else I wouldn’t have kept posting about it.

If somebody had said not to talk about it, I would have stopped. But no one ever did. Yet somehow it’s my fault and I’m the only one that ever derails threads even though everybody else is way off topic too.
IT IS NOT YOUR FAULT! Don't beat yourself up over it. We've all derailed a bit on this thread from time to time. I think it's because what's going on outside of this safe little circle has derailed everything else in our lives so badly. The side-trips here on BYC all come back to one thing - we're all dealing with this crisis in our own ways. And if one of those ways involves commiserating with a friend during a tough time in her life, so be it. Eventually, we all get back on track and moving in the original direction again ... at least until another train goes off the track ... or maybe just a bit off-tilt! :D

Lol. Ya we had a story on the news a couple days ago about the concern over shortage of hair dye in our area. Poor girls are having to do their dye jobs at home now.
Really, is that news worthy at this time?
All I'm stocking up on is ammunition. If this turns into a zombie apocalypse I'm not gettin eaten from lack of shootin.
DS pulled up a great meme, last night. In a nutshell it said something like this:

"Essential Businesses Only?
I do hundreds of hair cuts, nails, and beauty treatments. I do them every day. If you'd like an appointment, just keep going out. I'm a mortician!"

Awww no!!! I’m sorry :hugs :hit :hugs

That’s always hard!! I couldn’t even be at the vet when we took Gator. Dad and brother went. It’s not easy!!

But yeah, I’m just trying to figure out/deal with a bunch of other stuff atm so it may be spilling out some here.
Spill away ... we'll help wipe away the tears!

Thankfully "normal" for me really isn't that different since I don't work. Main thing I'm desperate to do is eat out lol - I really miss that because that was the only time I'd get to dress up, go out and do something.

I imagine hubby's company will still have provisions to allow people to work from home if they feel they need to (he had a coworker shelter themselves before the virus was even confirmed in the US) so if that's the case, he could continue staying at home, but he says he'd rather be in the office because it's distracting working from home.

Thank you!! This is so kind and wise. :love :bow And I really don’t get why everyone always singles me out specifically when I’m nowhere near the only one doing half the stuff but oh well. And in real life, a conversation with friends would not just stay on the same exact topic the entire time!!! That would be so boring.
