Good morning @Loreli !
If you want to chat there are also a number of chat threads like Byc Cafe; Are there any home bakers here?; What did you do in the garden today?; etc. I’d add the links for you if I knew how but I’m not very tech-savvy either lol but you can search them by the those thread titles
Oh thank you @blackandtan . I’ve been exploring around a bit. Just don’t wanna come off as rude because I don’t answer something that I don’t see. So nice thinking that y’all are all over the country. It’s cool.

All over the world actually, there’s a lot of folks from Australia, New Zealand, all over Europe, even Africa and South America

These also make interesting reading.
They show deaths of people either assumed to have, or tested for Covid-19.
The two tables are for Spain and Italy.
It is widely believed that the percentage of asymptomatic carriers is greater than the percentage tested. The number tested has by and large been determined by the showing of symptoms. Random testing at any significant level is minimal.
There is now some published evidence that many of those who have died and tested positive for Covid-19 had one or more life threatening health issues.
However, it seems that here in Spain at least if you are tested positive for Covid-19 and you die, the cause of death on the death certificate is deemed to be Covid-19 and not any of the underlying health conditions. It seems very little research has gone into establishing if the cause of death was in fact Covid-19 or some underlying health condition.

There is always going to be the personal tragedy of someone one knows dying, whether they die from Covid-19 or some other illness.
It would to me seem very important that we know who is dying from what though.

Yes I really agree with all of that.
Going forward it will be interesting to see some statistics on all of this; I am quite sure that someone smarter than me and with more time could do the research and compare population demographics, with reference to socio-economic levels and a number of other influential factors to find out what the impact of covid really is

I am probably not going to say this very well so please bear with me. A person may have "underlying health issues" and live for many years. Like heart disease, diabetes, obesity. Maybe they even smoke or have other risks. They could live like that for 20 or 30 years. But then they get Covid-19 and die in a matter of days. Did the virus kill them? Would they have died that day if they did NOT have the virus? Should they be included in the Covid-19 statistics? Or is it more accurate to say they died of the other risk factors? Does the fact that they had underlying factors change the fact that they died of coronavirus? What did they really die of? It seems to me the statistics are just showing that Covid-19 was a factor in these people's deaths. Maybe they would have died anyway. But the virus WAS present when their health crashed. Their lungs failed and they died. That's statistically significant.

Until more time passes, and there's a LOT more testing, and reliable tests, we are all quoting reports with very incomplete information. And a lot of people are dying!
Mary
I keep reading this "a lot of people are dying". Does anyone one know of anyone that didn't die at some point in their life?
It's what we do; die.
What's more we have been dying from many things that could easily be avoided for many years.
There is imo something deeply wrong with the current reaction to the Covid-19 crisis. I can't put my finger on what, or why.
Looking at two models, the Chinese and the Swedish and then looking at what is happening in here in Spain and in the UK I can't help thinking those who are making the decisions are basically incompetent.
I favour the Swedish model with a few adjustments but it takes responsible people to make it work. I look at what has gone on here in Spain and it's been a disaster. It was apparent from the outset that the elderly were at highest risk, but nobody bothered to check the thousands of care homes.
It's quite apparent here in Spain where migrant workers in agriculture are vital to Spains food production that the paltry poverty alleviation measures were not going to cover these people.
It was also quite apparent that if you do have a National Health service then it is going to need massive funding if it is expected to cope with a pandemic. The bulk of the money has been poured into corporations.

Does anyone one know of anyone that didn't die at some point in their life?
Ya. Me, my wife, my children, my siblings, their children and my mother.
None of us have died in our lifetimes and I want to keep it that way. I don't want any of us put at risk of this virus because ignorant people want to have their heads up their @$$ES and not see the severity of this virus and be more concerned about getting out and having their nails done or to go out to a restaurant to eat because cooking a meal at home is just to much trouble.
