Dirk, Thanks for the update, and all good wishes and prayers for her recovery.

You're welcome Mary, and thank you. Lorie
(Dirk is my husband. We're old fashioned, I guess. We have one house, one tv, one phone(landline only), one email, and one Facebook account. Even my kids tell me they aren't sure which one of us is contacting them since we share all accounts. Lol)

Sorry..... need to vent for a second 😂🤣🙈
:barnie

There’s been this horrible droning noise outside for like 2ish days now (noticed it yesterday) and it is SO ANNOYING!!!! And so loud. And constant!!!! I swear I’m going to go crazy!!! :barnie

Worse near a window of course but you can hear it even faintly in basically every room!! Most it’s not so faint.

I literally just had to put ear plugs in and sit in the dark and decompress for a bit (actually, still decompressing) because it was stressing me out sooooo bad.

Of course I was also paying more attention to it than usual cause I was trying I record it so maybe that made me more aware of it but still.....

Kept getting more and more annoyed and frustrated till I put the ear plugs in just to make it stop for a bit.

I think they are working on the highway or something (benefits of living near a highway 🙄) but it’s obnoxious and I wish they would quit it!!!!

:barnie :he:oops:

I don't get it either. When my parents finally got their first dog (after I'd begged for years and years, even after I gave them the perfect grades they demanded from me, they waited until I moved out and then got one ) my mom's only request was "No black dog." I went with them to see a litter of 3 pups, 2 were black. Of course they took the non black one.

My current male dog is mostly black, with a bit of tan. Fine with me, I don't really care what color they are. None of my dogs have been beauty queens anyhow.
you kinda hit a nerve with me tonight. I'm actually crying over thinking about the song scarbough fair. Brings back way too many memories!. not your fault, I know but I have deep feeling too

We have a grain elevator not too far from here. When that's in full production mode, it's not terribly loud, but the droning is near-constant. We buck it up, though, 'cause the corn's gotta get hauled or none of us, including the chickens, get to eat. Still ... :rant

That’s so wonderful. :love

You and @BigBlueHen53 are amazing!!!

DB & SIL adopted 2 black dogs too and we had a black dog, though he wasn’t adopted but I would adopt.

Statistically though, black animals are way less likely to get adopted, at least from what I’ve heard and seen. :( :hit

But then again there’s also just a lot more of them since black tends to be a dominant color over other colors so probably just more needing homes too.
The shelters call them BBD's - Big Black Dogs. From what I understand, the movie "Cudjo" did that for the poor critters - which is really weird, because in the book, I believe that Cudjo was actually a St Bernard. Go figure.

Sorry they never got you one!! :(

And that’s so sad. :(

My mom actually doesn’t really like black dogs either I don’t think. Says the hair shows up everywhere hah it’s ridiculous!!

And yeah, I love any and all dogs!!!
It's odd, but I've always been drawn to black dogs for just that reason. Since I lost my old border collie mix, two years ago, this is the first time in decades that I haven't had a black dog in the house. I make it up in cats, though.

I have two inky cats. The first I rescued as a dying stray kitten four years ago. He wasn't supposed to stay, but by the time I got him through all of his health and mischief issues, I was too attached to let him go. He's now a massive black moose with an extremely cool, laid back personality. One of the two we adopted last weekend is also all black - a long-haired feral who is coming around really nicely already.

My two current dogs are rescues, as well. Both were found wandering as strays. The older one is pushing fifteen, by our vet's best guess. I've had him for over ten years, now. The younger one is a two year old basket case! If I'm in the position to do it, and a stray doesn't find me again first, my next dog will likely be a total surprise. I've always dreamed of walking into a shelter, telling them how much space and time I have, and letting them pick the dog. I don't care about age, gender, color, size, coat, anything. All I really need is a sweet face and a sweeter disposition. I want them to bring me someone who needs me.

I'm a firm believer that "Rescued" is the best breed of ANY pet!
So sorry you lost your dog!!! :( :hugs I love border collies!!

But it sounds like you have some really amazing kitties and other dogs!!! :love

That’s brave of you to want to try that!!! I’m not sure if I would be brave enough to do it haha but I love all dogs and love training so I probably could or maybe a dog that needs work. :)

But yesssss I love rescues!!! :love my brother has three and I know a few others and they’re all amazing!!! :love

Can’t believe people wouldn’t adopt them because of some movie!!!
