Yesterday was an emotional and interesting day. My youngest DD Graduated HS. It was supposed to be last weekend, but they had to come up with a way to do it differently this year. Normally it's held inside, this year it was held outside. The students were seated 6 feet apart from each other in the front court yard and the families all had an assigned numbered square on the front lawn spaced 6 feet apart from each family group. It's a small town, so only 22 in her class this year.
The ceremony was short and sweet. When the kids names were called the super attendant would place their diploma on the statue in the court yard, step away and the kid would walk up to get it. The Principle would then say something about each kids accomplishments. A local radio station broadcasted it, so those who wanted to be there but were not allowed close enough to here could listen to it on the radio.
It was also live streamed for anyone who could not come could see it.

After it was done, they had a parade. All the seniors were driven up and down Main st. They were led by the police, fire dept. and the EMT vehicles. Sirens blaring the whole time. It was amazing to see how many people came out to congratulate them. This was one graduation that no one will ever forget!

My DD is the one in black and the other is her best friend.

CONGRATULATIONS to both you and your beautiful, accomplished daughter! What an awesome way to celebrate! Our HS has a much larger graduating class, but could easily have accommodated a town-wide celebration, like yours did. That's a wonderful, creative way to create a memorable day. I sure wish OURS was that creative!

the most fundamental thing that's happened to me in the quarantine period is an existential crisis.
I feel it, too! Let's hope that we both (ALL of us!) come through this mess with a better feel for who we are, why we're here and how we fit into the bigger picture of our lives and all they touch.

Will you post pics here so we can congratulate? 😀
Absolutely! She doesn't actually graduate until next week. Yesterday was a really neat photo shoot offered by a local photographer whose granddaughter graduates from another local high school. He is taking of pics of any grad who wants them - with and without their masks, as a set - at cost. Our site was a historic covered bridge in a local wildlife management area - and it was WAY COOL! We took Crazy Dog with us, just to give her a run and see how she reacted to wildly running water (by running wildly, as it turns out.) The photog loved her (go figure, the crazy monster!) and included her in the pictures. I can't wait to see how they turn out!
One crazy thing that happened was that a perfect stranger saw DD walking back to the car in her cap and gown (pretty as a picture, I might add!) and congratulated her with a $20 dollar bill! SO, Blonde Lady at Fair Hill, if you're out there reading this ... know that your kindness made a huge impact on my daughter. For now, at least, she plans to frame your gift to remind her that there are good, kind people and that not everything that comes out of this mess of her graduation year is negative!
Sincerely, One Happy Mama!

We have meat, but rather hit or miss. One of my usual stores is a smaller local chain so they had a lot more, but the national brand store was a bit sparse.
We need to concentrate on the smaller, local stores, anyway. The giants were able to stay open while the smaller stores suffered from closure - whether voluntary or not. Luckily, around here at least, the growing and produce season is just now getting started. The locals, both providers and consumers, are supporting the local markets. There is hope .. a LOT of hope!

That reminds me, I forgot to mention that we couldn't find ANY meat at all when we went to town. Sausages, kielbasa, that sort of thing, but no real meat.. Strange seeing the cases all empty
Yes, but there are good signs, as well ...

So, break it down into manageable nyte sized pieces...

I know, I know, cliché.... But, meditation is for just such a thing. Oh & btw prayer is the same thing.

One parent to another..... Isn't it amazing how fast they grow up???!!!

While I was hunting for my subie pics above, I wandered through a bunch of kiddos pics along the way. Sheesh. We have several kiddos 13-24 y/o. It's funny to have the perspective (in my head mind you) that I didn't 'feel' like I grew up as fast as others I when to school with/family members etal. And now looking at my kiddos; it's like they are "growing up" as fast as all those around me seemed to grow up back then........
