Oh wow that’s amazing!! It picked back up a little bit ago maybe around 745-8:20 ish the wind that is and is still going a little which is weird because for like an hour before it was over and sunny lol but it’s weird cause we barely got anything yet lost power. But the lights are out down the road which was. A little precarious so I think a big something got hit.
Sounds like you have lines down, somewhere, maybe a tree or pole (or two!) toppled. Fingers crossed that it's back on soon.

Fingers crossed that it's back on soon.

Exactly one year before Hurricane Sandy we had an early fall snowstorm that brought down many trees, and we were without power for 9 days. One year later to the day Sandy struck and we were without power for 10 days. I had two generators that ran the furnace, water pump, freezer and sump pumps - hustled to get the gasoline to keep them going. I said, "Never again." Spring after Sandy struck we got a propane powered generator that runs the house. Princess says that after 3 days I smell bad and refused to snuggle.

Covid Update - The school board just cancelled the entire Marching Band season. DD is SO glad she's no longer in HS. That would have destroyed her worse than not having a "real" graduation this year did!

And on a humorous Covid note - I just got the perfect description of today's weather:

Midnight - Hurricane and destruction
Noon - Sunny and 80 degrees.
Sounds about 2020 ...

We had a whole house generator installed in 2018, it runs on the propane that runs the boiler, and love it! no more midnight generator rassling, and gasoline dumping,
Worth every dime, and much less expensive than ten years ago.

Our generator isn't whole house, but we have it rigged so that a simple plug transfer will run the furnace, the fridge, the freezer and one outlet on each floor. That lets us run an alarm clock, a phone charger and at least one light. I really like the idea of hooking it up to the furnace (we have old fashioned oil heat,) though. The furnace is due for replacement in the next few years, and I think I'll look into hooking a generator into the system. Great idea! Thanks!

And since being installed, no actual outages here! Insurance! It's insurance! :wee

My dad was gonna go to bed and I told him he couldn’t go to bed and let the fridge be off overnight (in case it lasted that long) so he was about to go turn it on and the power came back on 😂🤣 as soon as I left to go drive around and charge my phone lol Insurance for sure! 😂🤣

This was about 15-20 mins ago now. I’m about to go back haha

1,400,000 people without power in NJ. Received a call from county emergency coordinators indicating that 40 % of JCP&L customers in our county are without power, and that it will be days before power is restored. Folks are recommended to shelter in place, go to relatives, or go to a hotel/motel. Shelter centers are discouraged because of the Coronavirus Pandemic. Our power and cable kicked off at 7 - cable came back almost immediately, and power was back in about a half an hour.
Happy for you sourland!

Say a thank you and prayer for the Linemen! Their jobs are dangerous, tough and sometimes unimaginable.

(Son2 is a Lineman and so proud!)

Never a good feeling to see this on the game cam...
