As someone who works in heathcare I am saddened by some of the misconceptions and misunderstandings that have been posted here the past 24 hours. I read through them, I am not responding/commenting on any of them. It seems rather pointless. My highly educated 2 cents worth. This is a very complex issue that touches many areas of humanity including disparities in access to health care based on both race and socioeconomic status.
I am going back to guessing peoples chickens genders and "liking" photos of baby chicks. Love to all of you and please all stay safe and take care of yourselves. :loveThis virus will be with us through the end of 2021 by all accounts from the people who actually know.

I mean, it doesn't have to be straight up "I won't treat you because of your skin tone". It can be as simple as "I don't think you're sick when you say you are because I view people with your skin tone as untrustworthy".

But since you said you'd change your mind if you saw it happen, here's 4 studies showing it happen. :)

I didn't say I'd change my mind, I said I'd stand beside you against it.

Gavin Newsome is proposing 1.4$B for homeless, I guarantee any church will do better with better results.

I think that's enough for me for today lol. I get heated but it's not personal, I'm just passionate about my opinions.
*extends for handshake *?

Most churches wouldn't take me in if I was homeless. :p And I wouldn't trust them to from my personal experience. But yes, that could theoretically be a solution.

(Edit; Wow, 1.4B could cover $500/month in rent, for a full year for 233,300 people! GEEZE! That's almost as many people as there are in my entire COUNTY!)

I didn't say I'd change my mind, I said I'd stand beside you against it.

To do that, first you'd have to acknowledge that it's real. ;) You can't say you're standing with people against racism in healthcare if you refuse to acknowledge that it exists even when lots of studies shows that it does.

Anyhow, I found those studies with two seconds of google searching. There's countless more if you go looking for them, from some REALLY heft sources, ranging from MAYO clinic to all manner of national health boards and studies from universities and more. It's a pretty broad reaching issue. Why not take a few days and read about it?

Aye, we got what, $1200 for 6 months?

I keep seeing jokes going around like "For just $6/day, you too can sponsor an American".
At least two people I know have started going to food pantries in an effort to not lose their apartments.... I give them stuff from my garden and chickens when I see them but, like, that doesn't happen often and they're a 30 minute+ drive away. One was one semester out from finishing his nursing degree but has like 3 risk factors for COVID? The other is an artist with a large bingo company who was furloughed indefinitely. :T

Show me a doctor that refused to treat someone because of the color of their skin and I will stand next to you in support. You are referring to "class" not "color". I am still lower class and see no evidence that this virus or healthcare professionals are judging by skin color.
You can make any poll say what you want. Like my other post.... in Sweden there were more white cases, in Mexico there are more Hispanic cases, in Africa more black cases. The virus doesn't care what color your skin is and neither does any health care provider. POC are not the only ones in the "class" you are referring to.
You're right about the difference between class and color. But others are right about color somewhat defining class. That micro-perspective taints pretty much everything we see, say and do - including lawmaking and policy setting. Until we can all see both through and beyond those definitions, we won't move forward. And that's not just true of the US, it's true everywhere. If we can't stop it-picking semantics and start applying our rules and visions holistically, we are doomed to repeat history over and over and over again. Even the Jetsons knew that. Rosie the Robot had as many rights as Mr. Slade and spoke up about them without fear of repercussions. See? The Jetsons had it right all along, despite being wrong about the flying cars.
Now ... I wanna talk to Doc and Marty about those fancy sneakers. The fake ones that came out "on time" just didn't cut it for me!

Have you been tested for the antibodies? If you have them, you may actually help place the beginnings of this mess - which may also help get rid of it.
American Red Cross is testing for antibodies for free with blood donations. Me and DW donated awhile back, we were both negative for antibodies but if we had it back in February when we think we might have it would have not showed up. We were really hoping that we already had it just to quit worrying. Personally just IMHO I think upstate NY had such a low cases of it, few deaths, cause it already came through here. Hard to believe with the massive flow from the city to up here during all of this that they didn't bring it with them.
We have a appointment to donate blood again in a couple weeks, donated the first time for the test but always said I wanted to make a habit of it cause it's a good thing to do so we are. DW's blood is O+ so much needed, mine is B+ kinda rare and not much needed but they say still wanted because they need more than just the red blood cells, platelets and plasma can be given to anyone .
