Ar't thou a Pasta-farian? ;)

Naaaah, I'm just pagan AF. I know a few people who are registered pastafarian pastors, though. :) Being in the queer community you run into a lot of them because for a long time they were the only ones who would officiate gay and atheistic weddings and didn't take themselves too seriously. The pagan priests were all like "Oh, marriage!? Ya'll wanna do a hand fasting? Maybe drink some mead?! Connect some chain links!?!? MIX SOME LIQUIDS OR SOMETHING TO SYMBOLIZE THE MIXING OF YOUR LIVES!? HAVE A FEAST WITH A WHOLE BOAR TO HONOR THE GODDESS FREYA!?!?!?". They get intense about it. XD Been to a few of those too, tho... Good times.

So update on testing..... My Better-half & 1 daughter is negative. The 3rd daughter is asymptomatic positive.

So I've started a "care package" for them. When we arrive at the Nat'L cemetery for F-i-L burial, I'll set the care pack next to the van for them to take back to the lake house.... They plan to stay in van for the burial. So now it's a 2+ week wait and see how they faire.

Boo about the positive test but at least Now You Know. Good luck at the ceremony.

She sent me this gorgeous smiling phone pic that she also had her "I voted" sticker too..... (Happy loving sigh)

Here's to EVERYONE who does something heroic to vote this year!!!!!

I scare easily then and now - don't look for any situations that will cause it.

Me too! I can remember being scared by the wolf in a little Golden record about the Three Little Pigs and it hasn't changed much over the years.

I am! At least in spirit.

Warning us that hospitals are reaching their capacity. Mandating masks, to keep groups under 10.

Who would have thought in this year that it would take hospitals getting to capacity to put out an alert to take sensible protocols seriously? Seriously! If "moral leaders" had any morality they would have taken this seriously and made their contribution to responsible citizenship much stronger and much earlier.

Well done on making your accommodations to your personal needs and your communal safety!

So sorry you've had to govern your emotional needs by your health needs but I'm glad to hear that you have an alternative for quarantine.

In case it's encouraging, my husband runs a company of about 300 people. Some of them need to be in very close contact and they have been for about a month now. (It took them MONTHS previously to work out all their protocols, run an infinite number of scenarios and define alternatives.) Anyway, they've run more than 5K tests and, in all this time, had only 2 infections (one involved a hospitalization and a patient still recovering; the other an asymptomatic person). And they haven't had a single infection transmitted from one worker to a co-worker.

Responsible precautions DO work! And putting some energy into new ways of doing things DOES make life and commerce possible even in the age of Covid.
I know that's what your family is doing so I hope this is encouragement!

Adding to the note about my husband's direct experience, here is a study from Vanderbilt University that finds a clear difference in hospitalizations between counties where mask wearing is the norm and counties where it's not encouraged.

I also heard an interview with a local Pasadena infectious disease specialist yesterday. She said there's already evidence that the flu season for conventional influenzas is significantly lighter because of mask wearing.

Funny thing. I haven't seen a single Trick or Treater, but someone's traded their lollipops and Air Heads and Sour Patches for the KitKat bars, and M&Ms and Resse's Peanut Butter Pumpkins I pinned out there.

At least we're getting some action and it appears to be from generous souls who want to Treat as well as Trick. :celebrate

In the spirit of sharing... (Yeah I'm sharing this link in a 2nd thread, enjoy) :plbb

Our local NPR "music only station" 91.7 KKXT FM has been playing halloween themed music all day. Just before 9PM CST they started a poem, Read by thee Christopher Lee! Oh it was fantastic to listen too completely. So here is the same thing for you to enjoy if you choose:

I once had to drive all night between Vancouver, BC and our Los Angeles home because a toilet was overflowing and my daughter didn't know how to handle it. It was Halloween night.

Local NPR stations in the Northwest all seemed to have the same idea of broadcasting spooky radio dramas. There was some Orson Wells' War of the Worlds. Don't remember what else but they kept me company on the long drive.

I don't believe our stations down here do that. ...but then I've never thought about tuning in to see what they do broadcast.

Well, "now" you have a nudge to take a gander eh? ;)
