Coronavirus, Covid 19 Discussion and How It Has Affected Your Daily Life Chat Thread

We're temp-locking this thread because we keep getting flooded with reports.

So, we need peeps to do 2 things for us to keep it open:
  1. Try to have thick-skins. If you don't like something, try your best to just move past it.
  2. Only post things that are helpful, friendly, and appropriate. If you break our rules, you may get blocked from this thread, or even blocked from accessing BYC.

A Reminder Of Our Rules:

We require all our members to remain civil, friendly, and respectful in ALL their public interactions. If we notice you are breaking this rule (to which you agreed when signing up for BYC), we'll need to issue a warning and even potentially remove your access to our community.

POLITICS:
Do not discuss politics in this thread. In general, we discourage political discussions because they so often go south. Because this thread is already a sensitive topic and moving so quickly, we need to initiate a ZERO-POLITICS rule.

Please make sure you understand this before continuing in this thread.

Thanks to all those that are participating in a friendly and supportive way during these crazy unprecedented times.

In addition to this, another reminder:

If you notice someone breaking a rule, and you need to do more than just ignore the post, then use the "report" link...

and do NOT reply / quote the person. Publicly engaging with content you think is breaking a rule, is usually just as bad, and can lead to moderator action.

Here's a link to the next brunch one they're going to do.

It won't be until May. But prior to that they're hosting all sorts of informational and cultural events. I hope from that link you can ask to be added to the e-mail notification string.

Thanks for posting the Scripps events! For anyone who would like to virtually attend an event featuring established and emerging writers, check out UC Riverside's Writers Week (starting Feb 13). You can register at the following link. Some of the writers include Joy Harjo (US Poet Laureate), Rita Dove, Juan Felipe Herrera, Jane Smiley, Karen Tei Yamashita, Mike Davis, Nalo Hopkinson and the list goes on. It's a great opportunity to see world-renowned writers without having to travel.

Sorry for causing extra work

Thanks for that, feather! It's kinda wonderful what we have access to just now during the lockdown. Last Spring I got to go to the virtual Chelsea Flower Show in London. I'll never get to it in reality in my life so it was a memorable week.

Anyway, thanks for another interesting opportunity!

PS My middle daughter is a UCR grad. I've got Berkeley and a Santa Cruz grads too.
