Sorry I havent had time to respond to this. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.fo.../coronavirus-covid-variant-mutant-strain/amp/
In general I dont trust the info the CDC puts out without doing my own research. Tldr:
"Importantly, ‘mutant’ and ‘strain’ can only apply to organisms, not outcomes. Saying “Covid mutant” or “Covid strain” is grammatically incorrect and makes you sound like an idiot."
"
Scientifically speaking, a mutant is the result of a mutation — a change in the genetic material (DNA or RNA) and produces something new. That mutation may have never appeared before, or has reappeared in a population’s gene pool, so it’s a genetic variant that’s either novel or only occurs rarely. A mutant has mutated relative to another type that’s considered common and ‘normal’, or ‘wild type‘.

So almost by definition, mutants are either recent or rare. As soon as a new mutant emerges, the clock starts ticking toward a day when they’re no longer news. That means a Coronavirus is only a ‘mutant’ if it mutated recently. Think about your own heritage: if a mutation arose in your ancestor, that doesn’t make you a mutant too."
I posted multiple reliable sources not just the cdc. I'm not a fan of the cdc either, but they are posting scientific information that coincides with the scientific community. The Forbes article seems be written at an 8th grade level, so it was quite an easy read. I find the acronym tldr a bit patronizing.
I'm not a Forbes fan, but since you are quoting their article here's an excerpt:

The rest of the article was not very thought provoking. He even linked to a youtube of futurama to prove his point. He sited a scientific article referring to the "Alpha variant has17 mutations". The term he is differentiating is mutant not mutate. Mutate means to change.
Mutant means "An organism, cell, virus, or gene resulting from genetic mutation."

I think this convo has surely departed from the "how has this affected you" aspect of the thread as it has been pointed out before, it's not in line with the original idea of this thread.
We are just going to go around in circles. However, if you like you can message me, but at this point I have nothing further to add.

Absolute fact, and are you willing to accept that some deaths are not classified as 'Covid deaths' so that states can make their numbers appear better?
I don't know why anyone trusts our Govt. Some have inflated for Govt xtra $$, covid deaths paid more(fact documented will provide links if needed)

Our previous Gov of NY, Cuomo did just that (made NY's #s appear better even though worst place for covid in the USA.
Asked his aides to hide the actual #s of nursing home deaths, nursing homes he mandated take covid patients.
Then recieved a multimillion$ book deal on how great he did during the pandemic. Then he recieved a international Emmy for his 'Masterful Covid-19 briefings'.
"As the nursing home report was being written, the New York State Health Department’s data — contained in a chart reviewed by The NY Times that was included in a draft — put the death toll roughly 50 percent higher than the figure then being cited publicly by the Cuomo administration."

You're correct on that that we have strayed on the topic. I apologize for the distraction. I appreciate your maturity on the subject. :thumbsup

Pretty funny not so funny. Had someone in a department at work test positive for covid, three people that worked with her were put on the whole Govt mandatory forced quarantine. Even though they had no symptoms and tested negative.
They came back to work today. Were given write-ups written reprimands for it... first time this happened here, wrote up for failure to observe proper safety protocols, the whole six foot distance thing...
I figure when I get ready for lunch tomorrow instead of having half the seats in the breakroom probably be just ONE.
Florida's looking better and better everyday.

Holy carp! Reprimanded for getting sick and/or being exposed.

Good thing I’m retired. In March/April 2020, I had a second level boss tell me I had to wear a mask when I met with our project clients. My response was “I’m not wearing a mask.” We continued to clash over restrictions until everyone was told to work from home. I continued to go to the office because I couldn’t connect to office servers from my home location. Suited me just fine.

Bet he was glad when my October retirement date rolled around.

I just want to say, I trust my God given immune system. I understand some folks are compromised with various illnesses. I don't have any of them.
I find in curious that the well are being targeted(?).
Common thought process for some who won't get vaccinated. I'm sure a lot of the 720 THOUSAND dead had some higher risk condition. But a lot did not.

Why target the "healthy"? Because the "healthy" can get Covid, the "healthy" can give it to someone who will die if they get Covid. Even if you don't care if you might get sick, perhaps end up in the hospital, perhaps die, care about others.

I would love to see those links. I keep reading that concept but never see any verifiable references.
