Could my Girl be a... Guy??

No Ameraucana have green or yellow legs. They all have slate legs.

Her parents are easter eggers as well if there legs are green. just because she is light colored does not mean she is wheaten.
she looks nothing like a wheaten
I am sorry

oh what ever color you want to call it! i dont even know what color slate is. green is the best name i can give it.

what is wrong with you people?? i only asked for clarification if she was a hen or a rooster! good grief!

i just looked at a photo of a wheaten hen, and yes she does. you cant exactly look at her in person can you?

just answer the asked question guys, no other questions were asked!

You asked a question and got an answer. You can get in a huff, but it doesn't change the fact that you are wrong. As are your friends who are breeding "Ameraucanas" and selling them incorrectly.

Your chicken isn't wheaten. She's red and white or something along those lines. This is wheaten:

"Slate" means gray. Your chicken has yellow legs. "green" legs are a definitive indicator of an Easter Egger, or "Mutt", chicken, which is what your friends seem to be breeding.

If you don't want to learn about your chickens, if you want to ignore the intelligent answers from those who know a lot more about the breed than you, you can choose to. Or, you can get over the fact that your chicken isn't the expensive bird you thought she was and learn about the lovely breed that she is. But, ignoring the facts doesn't make you right...

I only ever called her an Ameraucana for lack of what else to call her. I now call her an EE, thanks very much. I am not ignorant, I never claimed to know about Ameraucanas, EE, or anything else. I *ONLY* asked what gender she was. I also *ONLY* said their legs were green for lack of a better word. They were not actually green, and I know Littlefoot's legs are yellow. I know she isnt a *pure* bred bird, so I am not really sure what you are talking about. And it is not intelligent for people to continually say things that have nothing to do with the original question. You can save that for someone who actually asks that question.

i dont care if she is an expensive bird or not, we got her egg for free and i hatched it in my first hatch. I didn't even know Ameraucanas were expensive to begin with. my friends are actually breeding Ameraucanas. Just because I do not know much about them doesn't mean they don't. If I still lived near them I would send you photos of her flock. But of course, since all of you seem to jump to conclusions so quickly you must know her *and* her flock already.

Just drop it, my question (it was about her gender, in case you cannot remember that...) is answered. No need to keep on.

Happy chicken-ing.

Bye all.

being rude and inconsiderate of those who are trying to provide you with the proper info on a breed is not the right thing to do. you can post pics of the flock if you want. yes your gender question was answered but you have also gone on with the whole ameracuana issue and we have done nothing but try to inform you on why your baby is not a pure ameracuana but an ee. she can lay any color egg as well from white to brown to green to blue and anything in between depending on what egg genes she is carrying.

slate colored legs are gray in color, they do not have a hint of green on them. if i had a good shot of slate legs i would post but as of right now i don't have any.

For your hen to have yellow or green legs she would have had to received the gene for yellow from BOTH of her parents since it is a recessive gene. Your friend should not have this in their flock if they are Ameraucanas.

She is an EE. When i first started with chickens i bought some EE's from a guy claiming they were Araucana's. When i picked them up i know they were not but thought he had made a mistake in his add and he really had Ameraucana's. Just my luck i bought a couple EE's. I don't care what your hen is but she is really pretty. It almost looks like she has some kind of lacing on the end of her feathers. I would love to have her in my flock. I do know that you can get a EE from 2 pure Ameraucana's, If they do not match up to the standards.
