Could this rooster really be worth $200.00

i doubt they could prove it was a fighter, it was probably removed from craigslist just cause a bunch of people did similar to what happened here "omg, he's dubbed, he's a fighter! shame!" and then reported the post. a similar thing happened in minnesota when a guy posted some oriental games on there. he didn't fight, but he was well versed in their bloodlines and knew he could get that kind of money for them. dubbing is required in show, and is very important in areas with harsh winters to prevent frostbite.

i didn't see the bird before it was removed. at that low of a price though it is likely he was being sold solely on the track record of the bloodlines that went into him. considering that it was posted on craigslist the person selling it probably didn't know much about it and was looking to make a quick buck.

if ya think i'm nuts, out of all the gamefowl i own only was was proven prior to my owning him, the rest were not. cost of my untested broodfowl, price determined on quality of the bird and most importantly its bloodlines: $200 for the rooster and $100 each on the hens on average.

remember the old saying regardless of what sort of bird it is you're looking at "the animal is only worth the pricetag if there's some sucker out there willing to pay it"

We aren't endorsing it or promoting it. We just answered her question.

I know you were just answering her question. Im just saying, the way you stated it it seemed like dubbing is only meant for fighting.

not disagreeing with your suppositions, regarding why the bird is dubbed, but some people dub chickens to guard against frost bite.

Cathy posted another well reason.

I saw the post and there was no info other than a slightly innuendo-ish comment about being "game all the way".

I'd think that someone who was selling a breeding cock would mention bloodlines or the value of the bird, not just 2 pics and a phone number.

I dub 20-30 cockerels a year & 10 times out of 10 it's NOT a fighting bird.

I really love the game chickens-- I have never cared about the fighting part-- We always had them on the farm when I was growing up. They are great survivors and the hens are some of the best mothers of all chickens.. They will defend their chicks to the death. They are my favorite freerange chicken (so far) --Wayne

I just wonder if the rooster farms ship their birds overseas much since fighting is illegal in all US states now?

Well we weren't talking about your birds were we?

Why such a response? He was only proving that your biased and unfound assumptions have no basis or referenced facts to go by. It is narrowmindedness and ignorance of some breeds that push them to extinction because the "all knowing" sheep are too scared to learn something new or find out something on their own.
