O.K. after sitting her for about 3 hours just reading through all 9 pages of this thread, that has really caught my attention, all I have to say really is.....Don't' worry about even buying gold because one day a piece of bread will buy a bag of gold.
Ruth put in all in one of those walnut or pecan shells you were talking about....if your ready spiritually...you don't have to worry, or for better terms, concern yourself with the world ending in 3 1/2 years cause your not going to be here to eat all that food you stored anyways and there isn't going to be any city slickers that haven't put away that is going to eat it either.
Don't get me wrong I am not going to sit here and say not to store up for hard times, because I have myself. My grandma told me as a youngster that when I started to can foods, start by canning a season ahead. Meaning, the first year you can, don't use it until you've canned the second year. I do this and it keeps us stocked year round.
I asked this on SS forum..........My only question with the "Could your family weather a depression?" question is this.....For those who have a mortgage payment, where will they live when the dollar hits bottom? Bank owners will want from you what is owed, right? If you can't get to work or have no work to go to....what then? You may have nice, loving neighbors now but will they be there to help when you are losing your house? You may have to go to where you know no one. What then?
