Country Acres Poultry Feed * idiot update *

I use this feed all the time. I used the Purina Feed for a while and it got too expensive. The County Acres Feed is a good quality feed and is less expensive. My chickens like it and are doing well.

I think it's illegal not to list the required ingredients on the label.
If you live anywhere close to a farm or feed mill, you can ask them to make a feed mix for you.

As a former feed store owner I can attest to the fact that one with no tag is not the normal grain bag. It is required by law that the feed list certain things on the bag. I had a specialty 7 way scratch milled just for my store with the store name on it. I had to go through a complicated process and have it properly tagged and tested to be sure the tag was correct with what the feed contained. I will say however in the feed makers defense, sometime a few bags slip through the line. Maybe the tagger was not working properly or something. I know they should be watching closely for such mistakes but it does happen from time to time. If the stater board of agriculture inspector comes in and sees that feed in their store with no tage he will make them pull it from the shelf and fine them if he catches it that way again. It's the feed stores responsibility to watch for that sort of stuff and bring it to the attention of the mill. It should have been sent back and replaced with tagged product.

You asked if this feed was suitable for meat birds. I can't say without knowing what % protien etc. is in the feed. I will attempt to find that info out for you on monday as well. Hang in there, Trollkiller, and I'll try to get you some answers.

It was supposed to be start n grow. I think I will be buying different feed so I know what is in it. I would rather wate a bag than hurt the birds.

Thank you for taking the time to hunt up the information.

UPDATE: It appears I am about stupid, the bag did have a label sewn into the bottom of the bag. Now that I know where to look, it is 20% starter. D'oh!

If it's 20% starter then it will be just fine for your purpose

I'm glad you got your answer and sorry I wasn't any more help than I was. It's harder when you get out of the loop for a few years, lol.

Hi! Country Acres is it layer pellets ? The bag just said Feed? My friend got me a bag and I am not sure... Might be a silly ? But I want to make sure ! Thank me and the Girls

It’s Purina’s economical side brand and it’s good and cleaner than most in the price range. I feed about 500 pounds of it a month chicks gain well on the grower crumbles and the pellets are smaller than many other brands and work well in my automatic feeders where some other feeds don’t. Low dust and powder. Only other brand I like better for show birds is Big V, but at my location Country Acres pellets are $5 a bag cheaper.
