Cousin It

we're all just kidding. After so many forum posts about chickens dropping dead, graphic photos of predator kills, neighbors out to kill or maim each other - we needed the release - so we are just funning' the OP. Of course if he/she blushed - thats just more fun for us.

Hey folks--let's put an end to the vent patting feedback--

Cousin It squats low to the ground for long periods of time, as if a rooster is approaching to mate. He or she, whatever 'it' is, does without food and water for long periods of time. The vent patting makes "it'" think it has mated, and it ruffles its feathers and goes on its way. And it will begin eating and acting normal.

I am trying to have it not starve to death by laying in a squatting position for long periods of time. Waiting and waiting to mate.

Ok? Let's be done with it. Sorry I ever wrote.

I am an established breeder and blue ribbon "rosette" winner. Sell 20 dozen or more eggs a week. Amen.

By way of an apology, this document may be of interest to you - particularly page 5 (for visual clues) and page 11 (if you can get a blood test done)
Triploid & Intersex Chickens

I sincerely hope that Cousin It improves and you'll eventually figure out what is going on with it.

The link wouldn't work for me so I googled Triploid and intersex chickens. There were a ton of articles if only they would translate them for the lay person. I wonder if a tiny cyst on an ovary would cause this also. Maybe there is some simple surgery that would allow Cousin It to just enjoy being a chicken without gender stresses.

I deleted all of my posts so it wouldn't offend you. I was asking real questions trying to help solve your mystery. I'm sorry you took it the wrong way.
