cow milk for kitties?

Wet food is better for cats because they do not have a strong thirst drive and get their water from thier food. Mice are 70% water

Use goat's milk instead. It is easier on the digestive system. You can even use the canned goat milk. I raised a kitten on it before. It works.

you can also make your own kitty formula if you really want to give them a little extra. my cats eat cottage cheese, goat milk, yogurt and have had cow milk. some kitties can handle it and some can't with pretty bad results sometimes. my mama cat got mastitis so i made the kitties the kitty formula and they did really well while mama got better. you could also mix wet food with the dry food for a little while.

thanks everyone! glad to report that the kitten is thriving!

Never give kittens cow milk. Goat milk is ok. Cats are lactose intolerant and their stomaches can't handle cow milk.

I have used calf milk replacer for kittens that needed a little extra or have mixed some up and poured over dry cat food. They thrived on it.

I have always hears that cows milk is a no-no.

That rule of no cows milk applies to PASTEURIZED milk. It is sad that no one distinguishes between raw milk and other forms.

Get any old farming book pre 40's and kittens on raw dairy was common and without ill effect. We have raised tons of kittens here on raw product without an issue.

Being that raw milk is illegal to sell in many states most people would not know that raw cow milk is ok. Pasteurized milk is bad for everything, not just cats. The problem is most people think raw milk is bad for you and pasteurized milk is best, not true. It's the other way around.

My post was referring to pasteurized milk since the original poster said nothing about raw milk.

I'm a fan of KMR (kitten milk replacer) and a quality wet food, but it sounds like you've got things under control. Good job.

and, where are the pictures??
