There is a lady in my town that does these and calls them Memory quilts. She even adds fabric awards, shoe laces from favorite sneakers, hair ribbons and photos transferred to fabric to the quilts. They are humbling to see at first, but much loved by the families.

I've been reading grief sites and just haven't been able to search this part out on my own. I haven't been spending a lot of time on the computer anyway. I find too many things that hurt.

SE, apparantly the Lord thinks I am MUCH stronger than I think I am. I've been blessed to have so many people praying for me all over the world. I struggle, but I do feel the power of prayer lifting me out of the despair. But it's just all hurts so much and is so HARD.

I wish there was more that I could do to help you through this pain, I can't imagine what you are feeling. But besides your family, you have the rest of us surrounding you when you need us. I wish you comfort and glimmers of peace to keep you going. Your loss is too sad for words. I think the quilt is a great idea for your daughter, it will give her a place to grieve and a place of comfort as she moves through this time.

Poor Mom is worried about the quilt not working out right. She's never swen this type of quilt before, just the regular kind. So I'm going to donate some t-shirts for her to practice on. Then my daughter can finish 'my' quilt while Mom starts on the one for her. Then they can finish the sister quilt together, tying together the layers.

Lori this t-shirt quilt is a good plan.

With grief it does not get easier it gets different. Only advice I can give you where grief is concerned. Just breathe, remember that and you will make it through this. You won't be whole but you will make it through this.

wegotchickens, I am sooooooooooooo sorry for your lose.

Its been a year of trials I can tell you that, and all I have to offer are good vibes and lots of love from our family who's been moving through lose after lose this year as well. Much love to your family.

Jody is right, you'll need some kind of stablizer. I'm making a memory quilt from my daughter's baby clothes right now. I'm using a rough weave cotton so it'll soften up a bit when washed. It was cheap for me, but it probably wasn't the best option.

I need help from someone(s) that knows how to sew.

I am making a car seat cover for my DD. The pattern is from simplicity (as my dd said when she started this, there is nothing simple about it!).
This is the pattern (bottom pink one)

The part I am stuck on says...Stitch ends of casing together. (got that) To make casing for elastic, press raw edge of casing to inside along fold line for casing. (I think I got that) Finish raw edge. Stitch casing in place 1/4" from raw edge, leaving an opening to insert elastic. Machine stitch 1/2" from remaining edge of casing.

Next part says...Cut a piece of elastic 59" long. Insert elastic through casing. Overlap ends and hold with a safety pin. Stitch ends of elastic together securely. Stitch opening closed.

For the pattern part that needed cut out for this, says...Cut 2 on fold. At the end of the tissue paper thing it says, center fold (with 2 big arrows). This could be where the mess up started but, I'm not sure.

I have 2 pieces. And when I folded it over & made what I thought was a casing, it didn't look bad. BUT, when I ran the elastic through...the elastic is still outside the casing by about a foot or so. (way to big for it all to fit in the casing??

I am a self taught sewer. I only do enough to get by & thought, I should be able to finish this for her. She gave up along time ago!!
