Crafters- What are you making???

I finished a couple more of those apples and I'm working on some more reusable sandwich/snack baggies for friends with kids who are requesting them for Christmas! My goodness... I'm giving them away so fast I may never be able to sell one's like I wanted to!

I made several of these last year. It was great fun! Make sure you quilt the sweater before you make the purse. Hmmm I wonder if I have a pic on this computer.

Did you try it both ways, I read you can choose to cut out and sew before felting or you can felt then cut out to make the purse. If you have which way worked better for you??? I was thinking if you cut and sewed first it would really mesh the seams well when it felts. Thanks for posting those they are adorable. I still have not finished one, I have out of town guests coming, can't see it happening anytime soon.

The reason I say felt first is that usually not all parts of the sweater felt up the same. If a different yarn or weave was used some parts will be tighter/looser than others. For example on the pink purse, the bottom part of the purse where it's all wavy was how the bottom of the sweater felted up, the body of the sweater was not wavy but tight, I just chose to integrate it into the design. If I had made the purse first it would have felted up weird.

Same problem with the Eddie Bauer sweater, the arm bands and waist bands didn't felt up the same, so if I had cut and sewed first it would have been a mess. Trims, different yarns, button holes, etc can all make the area they are in felt up differently. I felt it worked out better to felt first and then sew.
