In addition to making egg ornaments as per Miss Prissy's thread

I am also refinishing some old cigar boxes and adding a fabric or felt lining to convert them into jewelry/trinket boxes

And last night I started on making/sewing little evening bags/pouches. I'm not such a good seamstress, and only have 1 to show for it. I may go to plain square shapes just to make life easier. I love the fabric, though, and it was on sale for $2 a yard! I really want to make a hooded cape out of it, but that's a bit beyond my capabilities.

OK, camera battery is dead, so I'll describe the pouch; crushed velvet-like, burgundy fabric, with black satin lining, and black ribbon drawstring closure. I'll charge up the battery if anyone wants to see a pic.

Here are 3 that I've made so far. I want to make a much larger one, for an evening bag, but short of a garbage can lid, don't have a circle to use for a template. Once I got going, they are pretty easy to make, and forgiving. I may put my egg ornaments inside them as a gift bag, inside another box, of course. Don't want the eggs to get broken.

And this is the site I used for directions http://www.isew.co.uk/kids_makes/drawstring_purse-c-00233.htm

Thanks! I'm no seamstress, but these turned out ok. I am working on green ones now. I just spied the dogs' huge water dish, which is very large and round. I'll have to use that as a template for my next batch.
