Crafters- What are you making???

I LOVE the horse hair baskets. I really want to learn how to make them. Are they made like other baskets?

Yours are really good.

Sounds like you know your stuff, most people plant them in normal potting soil. Gravel will drain fast. So you probably will need to water more often than I do. Just don't water them too much. They like to dry out between waterings.
Sometimes different succulents are not compatible in the same pot (different water needs) but if one doesn't thrive just replace it with another type. It's a trial and error hobby but when you find what works well together it is so worth it!

Thanks! My friend keeps telling me, "Don't water them!" because I have the tendency to over water... but I hope they do really well, because I think they will make really nice christmas gifts. I have killed succulents before from watering too much, so I am resisting the urge!

Made 20 quilt blocks and have them up for auction for someone to assemble, sash (or not), border and make their own top.
Here they are arranged on the floor, but they can be arranged in any configuration. They are only placed side by side to give a loose idea of what they will look like when assembled without sashing.

Made this yesterday, a Jacob's Ladder table runner in winter/holiday colors. I am going to try to sell the top with batting and the backing so someone else can have a small project that is easy to complete in a short time.

Here is the backing fabric.

I bought a book on basket weaving the other day. I'm hoping to be able to learn to be good at that. I love baskets and they can hold my other crafty projects too

Any basket weavers have any advice on starting basket weaving?

Thank you for the kind words on my horsehair baskets!!
LaSombra, Are you looking for advice on weaving with reeds or what type of baskets are you looking for advice on? I love to make baskets with pine needles. (Cheap hobby too!!! Just have to walk outside and pick up needles!!) If you are looking for pine needle baskets this is a great place to learn. I taught myself from this site. http://www.nativetech.org/basketry/coilinstr.html

well, the book I bought is mostly reed weaving, but I'm open to anything. Those pine needle baskets are really pretty! I wonder if there's anything you can do with feathers... I'd think that if you used the vein of each feather, they'd be kinda like pine needles that way...

Thanks for that link. I'll check it out
