Crafters- What are you making???

Sounds easy ill have to look into it more I always thought you needed all kinds of things like a churn lol

You do need a lot of stuff if you make it from scratch. If you buy the soap base all you need to do is put it in a glass measuring cup and melt it in the microwave for a couple of minutes, add fragrance & color if desired and pour into molds. You can make several soaps in 15 minutes (plus cooling time).

The melt & pours come in clear glycerin, white glycerin, white olive oil, white, shea butter and white goats milk. There may also be other varieties available. They make really easy and fun gifts.

I just used the melt & pour soap base that you can buy at most craft shops. I usually buy it when they have 50% coupons to make the price reasonable. You can put any kind of money in the soap even paper bills ~ the soap won't hurt them.

Funny... I was going to say that I didn't think one dollar would be enough for most of the kids i know...sad but true...sigh But it is a great idea!

tell me about it.. one year for christmas I got a small metal pail.. poured some water in it and froze it.. then started adding layers of cash and water freezing between each layer..

I gave it to my nephew cause he said he wanted "cold hard cash" for christmas

i think I ended up with about $ 50. in there by the time I was done adding layers

he LOVED it!.. the look on his face when I handed him a bucket full of ice was priceless too. (you couldn't see the cash from looking at the top since I finished it with a nice thick layer of ice)

About how much is the soap to make and how many can you make with one package or box not sure how it comes?

The small blocks of melt and pour base are 2 pounds and sell around here for about $11. The soaps I made are about 4 oz each so you can make about 8 soaps. I buy my soap base at AC Moore & Michaels using the 40% or 50% coupons they have in their ads each week (you can also print the coupons off of their websites). They also have larger 5 or 10 pound blocks too. The only other thing you need is color & fragrance. which is inexpensive and a little goes a long way. You can buy commercial molds for a couple of dollars or make your own molds.

Cool thanks I've got to go to town here in awhile I will take a look and see what I can find keep up the good work
