Crafters- What are you making???

Your ideas are similar to mine. Last year I made rhythm beads for my horsey friends.

And this year, I'm going to make ornaments out of hollow eggs (at least I'm going to try.

We also make strawberry jam and cinnamon pecans every year.

I'm also on the forum called Craftster.org, which has craft swaps. Mostly there are themes and you craft your partner that theme. I'm participating in one that is the Shop the Swap. People put up stores with certain point values for items. Well, I had 60lb's of tunis fleece, 1 pt per priority box. I'm using my points to get hand knit scarves, handmade and dyed roving, and crafts I can't do for my family and friends

I'm using Tricia's soap, candles that my friend sells (www.goldcanyoncandle.com THEY ARE THE BEST!) and probably some baked goods like bread. I'm wondering if I can learn how to can before Christmas....

Anyway, I'm going to put them in a decorated basket. Cheap but cute, and a good gift with a lot of thought, too!

Ok, now im really excited about the soap idea.
I live in Australia but would appreciate any hints from you experienced soap makers.
Since I cant work fulltime due to my MS I would love to make soap for an income and sell these at markets!!
Id love to make sweet scented ones!!
If you can give me some hints that would be great.
Ive googled but only found shops selling supplies, i guess i need to know what to buy from a trusted advisor!!!
Thanks

Miss Prissy- I have hundreds of black walnuts all over my yard. I cannot figure out how to open them. So far the best uses I can find for them is a friend is making dye for wool for her yarn and I am throwing at the goat's butt when she jumps the fence. No so good as they sprout up everywhere!!!!!!!
How do you harvest them?

I have four black walnut trees - how do you keep WORMS out of them?

I've heard to open them - drive over them with your car -

The walnuts sound like too much of a challenge for me, lol!! Need a steamroller to crack those things!! Ya'll have so many creative ideas, sounds like our friends and families will have nice homeade gifts this year!!!

I don't worry about the worms because the chickens go nuts for them. As I pull off the hulls, all 23 chickens pick over the hulls and eat the worms.
It's ironic though, walnut hulls are often used as a natural wormer.

You all have inspired me to actually make something this year. I decided to do blown egg christmas ornaments along with my baking spree. I'm going to get the supplies today

I'm not doing super fancy hand painted ones or anything. I'm thinking maybe some pretty metallic ones and some painted with rub on tranfers on them. I'll post pics in a new thread when I get them finished.

Thats what we should do too.

I would love to see the things you are making. We need a craft pic thread when peoples projects are finished. I love this site.

I have found that Oriental Trading.com has some neat Boy Scout crafts and other really neat kid crafts as well! They are inexpensive and have nice quantities!
