Crafters- What are you making???

That's a cute pattern Jennifer! In the far, far, far, far, far distant future, I hope!, when I have grandkids, I will def. be making those shopping cart covers!! I have seen kids suck on the bars of the carts before..yuck!! Now you look at anything people touch and think, MRSA, Swine Flu, other staph infections...GERMS...it's really gross, so if those will help, I'll be making them! I like diaper covers too, those are just too cute. My kids are still in college and too young for parenthood so I hope all that times out well with my retirement in about 9 1/2 years! I figure my sewing should be pretty good by then too so I can make all kinds of cute things!! Good luck on the car seat cover!!

Years ago,DH and I worked together making him a seat cover for one of the big machines he used at work (don't remember waht-gradal, hyster...) We came up with our own pattern, I do that a lot. Soon after I finished it he hurt his back so he didn't ever get to use it. I am in the process of making him one for our kabota tractor. I just need to go get more elastic. We have talked for years about making these. When I am finished with his, I will be making one for our neighbor.

I understand what no chicks is saying but am not of much help since I don't use patterns much.

DH has been bugging me to make him covers for his reloading equipment. I have been flaking on it. Good thing I did though because we were just given an almost brand new shotgun reloading equipment. So now I have another one to add. I will get on this this week. And the seat cover.

I have some pics to post of things DGD and I have been doing.

For the pattern part that needed cut out for this, says...Cut 2 on fold. At the end of the tissue paper thing it says, center fold (with 2 big arrows). This could be where the mess up started but, I'm not sure.
Those are rather confusing directions, aren't they? It sounds like the end with the 2 big arrows is the center fold. Did she place the arrows on the fold and then cut out two of them? Boy, this is tough without the pattern directions in front of me, I can see why it is causing you problems.

Very confusing. They don't give very clear directions. You are doing great though!

No she didn't , think that is why I have more elastic than material casing??

Any chance you have a camera to take a photo of that pattern piece? If you do, you can e-mail it to me or post it here and maybe we can figure it out for you. I have to say I admire your courage to keep working on this project.

Ok here we have pics, hopefully you can see good enough.

This one I tried to shoe you the end, where the big arrows are & it says center fold.

This one shows the pattern in full length.

this shows the directions of where I am stuck.

this is "my" casing & how much elastic is left.

This is the rest of the cover that I have done. I need to finish it off, add the elastic part, cut the slots for the belts to go through and it will be done!
