Crafters- What are you making???

Lets see, since the beginning of January, my mom and I have canned 2 turkeys and 4 roast, and about 15 pints of collard greens, and some of those will end up as Christmas gifts (at least after fair anyway) I have also been making , er...decorating journals. Here is a pic.

Bohemian Journal

Front and back of "OHM Journal

I bought some small boxes at the dollar store today and they are going to get the same treatment.

those are really great. What type of journal book did you use? And what medium did u use on the Journals? is it papers, paints, ect.
I was also thinking of doing some for christmas and matching a theme to what the person likes. They can use it for a Journal, notes, Shopping list, to do list ect.
love the ideas of doing goats and chickens.
I would have do a chicken one for me, could do a veggie/ food one for the person that likes to do canning. Add a few favorite recipes to the book too. Just a thought.

Those are some really pretty eggs. I have a post I can send you that I got from someone on using silk to dye easter eggs. I think they actually used Ties. I will find it and post it here. I love how you took one of the eggs and madea necklace out of it. Was that hard to do?

ps as soon as I can find the post that I got about dying eggs with silk ties, or material I will post it.

I blew out and silk dyed bantam eggs for Easter! I posted pics and the link to a great 'how to' on my blog: http://artmamasays.blogspot.com/2012/04/silk-dyed-eggs.html
What is your favorite technique for dying eggs?

I bought a set of journals from Sams (2 for 9.50) they only came in black but suited my purpose (cheap). Then I coated them, one side at a time, with modge podge, the direction of the brush stroke is going to show through so either do a design you like or make sure the strokes are in the same direction. Once you have done that gentely place your choice of tissues paper, make sure you get out the air bubbles. When its completely covered, coat it in modge podge again, this adds translucency to the paper to give it that aged kind of look. The Bohemian Journal has scrapbook paper, ribbon and rhinestones on it. The Ohm journal is temorary tattoos. If you use temp tat's be sure to use just the minimum amount of water to get the job done, then modge podge it again to seal it. :)

I think my next one is going to be a bit victorian. At least the boxes are going to be more of a steampunk/victorian style.

I used a jewelry wire - they look like a giant pin - to assemble the hanging one - then use a small flat bead at the top to hold and then bend it onto a loop for hanging.

thanks for letting me know. I did not get a chance to do any eggs today. I am thinking of starting some this weekend to have them ready for next year to maybe hang around the house, and give as gifts.
