Cream Legbar Hybrid Thread

Pics
Well thats not a black pullet.. she looks like a over melanized eb(brown) pullet with the following genes, s+ for gold, Ml for Melanotic and Pg for Pattern gene, the chicks will hatch all chipmunk stripes, Females lacking headspot and Males having a heaspot but not as diluted as double barred males,

now the CCL mated to RIR will produce some all yellow/orange chicks and some wildtype chipmunk looking chicks, this due to wheaten being a weird gene and sometimes behaving dominant and other recessive to wildtype e+. same as with the BO... on the CCL X RIR cross expect Red Barred birds with a black tail(barred also) with the CCL x BO expect simmilar look but much lighter in color....

you can even take some of those wildtype looking barred males and mate them back to BO hens and create the Autosexing BO breed that lays blue eggs...Such a cool project

Nicalandia,

You may want to check out my post that originated this thread. There are a number of pictures there of the three chicks that I got from the first crossing of the CCLxEE and CCLxRIR. I hope to get more pictures up today or this weekend. These three chicks are now ~ one month old. The two CCLxRIR were projected to be pullets based on chipmunk stripping and feather sexing at hatch. They are now showing the classic CCL female breast pattern albeit with different colors, no barring in the breasts but barring else where. The CCLxEE was projected as a male given his headspot and feather sexing and continues to project as a male by behaviour.

I would like to know more regarding a game plan for an autosexing BO blue egg layer that you indicated above. Feel free to PM me to discuss further. Thanks in advance!

I will discuss this here if you dont mind, so people can see what could be the outcome...

your first CCLxBO will produce some yellow chicks(no good for breeding) and some chicks that will have chipmunk stripes they will be e+/eWh some of them will have the white heaspot and those are the males you will keep. those males,,... when those males are mated back BO keep the chipmunk stripes birds even if they show to be females, 50% of those females will lay a green colored eggs.. why not blue? BO lay brown eggs...

thats just the begining of the project.

Such a Beautiful Bird....

another proof that most EEs are based on the eb allele... this hen looks pure for e+ but the suspected mothers look pure for eb

I meant to post a picture showing more of her, here we go:

I do think she is very pretty. :)

Sticking to subject, I crossed my cl hen to a bielfelder rooster.
700

3 females and 1 male.

This is the male. Still has the chipmunk pattern on back. Head coloring is more dispursed. Body coloring is a little darker than other 3.

Off subject, i crossed black sex link hens to bielfelder rooster.

I followed link to other thread about sex links. It pretty well says, no combination of black sex link and any breed will get you sex linked chicks. Which wasn't my intention. I knew black sex links didn't breed true. 2 chicks from this crossbreed. 1 is solid black and the other has a white headspot. Did I happen to get lucky? They might turn out to be just the opposite of my thinking. Only time will tell.

Here is a little better picture of the solid black chick.

oh sorry, I didnt see the whole "I Cross the Bielfelder rooster to Black Sex Linked Hens..." well After seeing the outcome of the Cross I can say with certainty that your Bielfelder Rooster has Only one copy of the Sex linked Barring gene, and these chicks on the above pics are actually female chicks hatch from the same Black Sex Linked hen... why do I say this? Had he been Pure for the Barring gene(double barred instead of single barrd) he would have pass this trait to his daughters and those black chicks should have had a black headspot(small but visible)... why do I say the chick on the same pics as the black on is also from the Black Sex Linked Hen?.. Black Sex Link Hens are split for wheaten(eWh) they look black because they have Extended Black from their barred rock sire..... so they are indeed E/eWh and when you cross the Bielfelder roo which is suposed to be e+/e+ the 50% of the chicks should hatch being e+/eWh looking like the CCLx RIR cross, kind of Chipmunk but not as defined as pure e+/e+
