depends on what type of Araucana you use... if you use Black or Blue the chicks will come out looking Blue Barred or Black Barred instead. now if you use a Duckwing or Black Breasted Red one then the birds will come out looking just like some of the birds posted here

well if you want to be specific... if the Sex linked trait is Recessive like Chocolate. then yes its possible to Breed a Chocolate Colored Rooster To a Black Sex Linked Hen and this cross will produce Chocolate colored hens and black colored roosters.... so yes its possible now back to topic..(PM me about this) this thread is cool

I meant to post a picture showing more of her, here we go:

I do think she is very pretty. :)

that article garydean posted talked about the hackles going from gold to cream at the bottom or even the other way around. i wonder if this is from the same reason. she is amazing. you need to start your own breed just like this one.

did you use a CCL roo over a Black Sexlinked Hen? or a Black Sexlinked Rooster over a CCL hen?
I crossed black sex link hens to bielefelder rooster. My chicken house and pens aren't finished to where I can keep the different breeds seperated yet. I have 2 bielefelder roosters in with the different breeds of hens. Then the rest of my roosters are in another part. My thinking on the black sex link and bielefelder cross: a good egg producer with large eggs. Extra laying hens for me.

oh sorry, I didnt see the whole "I Cross the Bielfelder rooster to Black Sex Linked Hens..."

well After seeing the outcome of the Cross I can say with certainty that your Bielfelder Rooster has Only one copy of the Sex linked Barring gene, and these chicks on the above pics are actually female chicks hatch from the same Black Sex Linked hen...

why do I say this? Had he been Pure for the Barring gene(double barred instead of single barrd) he would have pass this trait to his daughters and those black chicks should have had a black headspot(small but visible)...

why do I say the chick on the same pics as the black on is also from the Black Sex Linked Hen?..

Black Sex Link Hens are split for wheaten(eWh) they look black because they have Extended Black from their barred rock sire..... so they are indeed E/eWh and when you cross the Bielfelder roo which is suposed to be e+/e+ the 50% of the chicks should hatch being e+/eWh looking like the CCLx RIR cross, kind of Chipmunk but not as defined as pure e+/e+

Wow... So cool, Now Keep these ones PLEASE...!!!! the cross you did(CL Roo over SLC hen) is a Sex linked Cross, females are gold and Males Golden...

Wow.. these pics also lets you know what to expect when crossing wildtype birds(e+) to eb like birds.... the chicks appear pure wildtype
Just wanted to let you know that unfortunately I wont be able to do updates on these chicks I just sold them today. Maybe next spring I will grow some out to maturity.
