Cream Legbar Hybrid Thread

Ugg, I was hoping to get at least one green egg layer, I keep hatching Cockerels over here!
Well you will never know for sure until you grow them out. Someone has to eat chicken meat as well:) I was hoping for a lot of girls too but the boys outnumbered the girls.

I have 14 week old chickens--some of those cockerels need to go soon.

They are from Trader Joes Fertile eggs. They are a cross of Hy-line brown roosters over Hy-line white hens. Some of the boys are rather large.

We were just discussing this on our Illinois thread. Seems like the Trader Joes here in Illinois does not receive fertile eggs. Junibutt can attest to that. I would love to give it a try. Can you post a pic of the chicks?

The yellow ones are TJ's just hatched. The others are Australorps

@bamadude

This chickie hatched from a green egg and has a small crest and feathered legs.

So I'm guessing a Cream Legbars crossed with Marans. Which color Marans would that be?

Wheaten Maran is the Obvious answer ;)

Wildtype x Wheaten will often result in Wildtype looking chicks(with faded chipmunk strips)

Thanks Nicalandia. I was going to try to keep it, but things aren't working out to we for me so it will be sold along with the most of my flock. Only keeping Naked Necks.

I have a chick I just hatched that is a cross of Cream Legbar male and a Barred Rock x Blue Laced Red Wyandotte female (she is black and white barred just like a barred rock and has a rose comb)

The chick I expected to hatch black with a white head spot but instead it hatched yellow with chipmunk she also seems to have a rose comb. SUPER cute chick, but I nevr expected her down color. Is this coming from the Blue Laced Red Wyandotte side of the hen mother?

I will post pics of hen and chick here shortly.

blue maybe, this is what i got when i crossed CCL roo with Barred Rock hen. i have two of them they both lay a light blue egg.
