Cream Legbar Hybrid Thread

By my understanding, with the CL roo, you should have blue egg laying hybrids, but they could be green or olive depending on how brown mama's eggs are.

I'll admit up front that I'm not entirely sure of this pullet's parentage. Clearly she's half Silkie. If the Silkie is her mother, then her father is, by elimination, Cream Legbar. (At that time I had two Silkie roos and one Cream Legbar roo.) If the Silkie is her father, then I have no idea. (I have a lot of hen breeds.) Is there any way to tell? Your thoughts welcome.

Note: She's larger than a bantam, more like a fat light fowl.

Were the silkie roos black? Is the silkie hen black? She wouldn't have gotten that colour from a legbar. I guess you already know this, and all of the silkies are black. Sorry about that.

No problem -- and I should have provided the colors anyway. I have a black pair and a white pair of Silkies (male and female in each color). The male Silkies are small enough that they have difficulty mating with the large-fowl hens, but they do occasionally succeed.

So that makes it likely that the hen is the mother, rather than the silkie roo being her father. Any clues by the type of egg? Colour and such? Or do you not remember, being as she is not an adult?

OMG, she is so cute, LOL!

This is a great thread! It is nice to see everyone's hybrids. I have two that just hatched last week or so. I think the light chick is a hen and the dark chick is a roo, I'm not entirely sure though. The light chick had a white EE for a momma and then black chick had a silver/grey Cochin for a momma.

My silly little Serama ended up being the broody that raised them. Actually, my other Serama thinks she is the momma too! So they get along quite will in the flock with two feisty protectors!
